H'lo all. I know this question has likely been asked before but we're having a little trouble tracking down a straight answer, so, here goes:
24 - 48 hours to get a book up into the Kindle store, yes? We uploaded a book by one of our authors around 8pm (Pacific) on Wednesday evening. It's now Friday morning and we've yet to see it published. The listing for the book on the Bookshelf has its ASIN now, so that's good... where are we in the timeline for this? Can we expect to see it up today? tomorrow?
The title does not even have a page yet. And on the Bookshelf itself the title is greyed out and under Status it says "publishing" with a note saying 12 hours. No page for the book, no buy button yet... does this alter the timeline further? Do we have longer than expected to wait here?
We're not irritated, or even impatient, just curious and would like to know what to expect, what's reasonable. So we can have something to tell our author other than "anytime now, buddy", y'know?
If it is still "greyed out" it is not published yet. It will say "live" when it is done. When that happens, you should see it. If it is taking this long, usually they are checking something in the book or there may a lot of people uploading books.
That's interesting, Adrianna. What sort of things would they be checking? In point of truth, we're actually kinda glad that there are real people somewhere along the line performing checks on documents, but we're curious as to what they could be looking at...
