I went to this site: https://authorcentral.amazon.com/gp/help/contact-us -- picked the issue book is not listed (even though it's an ebook) because it was the closest thing I could find to my issue. I requested a phone call and received one immediately. I reported the issue and they told me that KDP is working on finding a solution, and that many authors are having this problem and are calling. The operator took the name of my book and said she would report the issue on my book directly to them. Might be a good idea for as many of us as possible to make this phone call.
I'm really hoping this is just a temporary glitch. I had a promotional sale, lowering the price to about half off, and then I just returned it to its normal price. It had been appearing just fine in all of the Amazon stores (.com, uk, de, etc.), and now even though it shows as "live" and I got an email confirming that it is live & published, it is nowhere to be found. I had gotten a couple of very good reviews, too, from genuine purchasers who liked the book, so I hope that they haven't completely disappeared with the book!
I've sent Amazon KDP a message via their help page, but who knows how long this will take to straighten out. I'm really bummed. My blog has links to the book, too, so I can just see someone trying to buy the book or at least look at it on the Amazon site and not finding it!
It's a cookbook that's original, not one of those scraped cookbooks with recipes from the web. It took me weeks to put together and format correctly for Kindle, including the tables of contents. I'm not at all happy about this.
Same thing is going on with me. My book is showing as live on my bookshelf but links to my book now show a 404 not available. It is also no longer there when I search the amazon store; however, when I do a google search I find it but the links don't work (they display the 404 page)...
I think I will try calling them later today. I am somewhat relieved that I'm not alone, but since this is my first experience with KDP (and I'm in the midst of writing a novel that I hope to publish this summer), I'm confused and unhappy. (I'm also enrolled in KDP Select, and so it's not as though I can point people to the book on some other site.)
Given this problem, I'm not sure I will be enrolling my novel in KDP Select when I publish it. I'd planned to have it exclusive to Amazon for at least 6 months before publishing for the Nook & iPad, maybe through Smashwords. Now I'm not sure whether it is such a good idea, since when there's a glitch like this, there are no alternatives to point someone to.

When I told the representative that my book had disappeared from the Amazon store she immediately knew what I was talking about and said this has been happening since yesterday and they have received many calls from authors about the issue. She took the name of my book and is contacting KDP on my behalf. She told me that the issue will hopefully be resolved soon. So we will see...
