Hello, Phoenix.

I am sorry to hear what's happening. Is there any possible reason for it? Keep us posted.

Thanks.

After all the correspondence and confirmation that all promo efforts have been compliant, my last contact from KDP/Amazon has been form, restating that I'm responsible for all activity with my titles, warning of possible account level action should anything they don't like continues, but reinstatement of rank once whatever they don't like stops.

The only thing I have going on is promoting my blog and whatever minimal attention it garners for my titles. Meanwhile, I now have three titles instead of one without sales rank and still no explanation as to why. KDP/Amazon has expressed zero interest in helping to clear this up.

I'm about as hands-off as I can be at this point and our hosts seem content with allowing me to sit becalmed in the Sargasso.

Thanks, George.

They're blaming it on activity from "illegal accounts", but provide no direction for me to do anything to counter it. They seem to feel that suspending sales rank activity, now on all three of my titles, is a more appropriate response.

Open to suggestions for remedies, but losing confidence in the potential for a positive resolution.

Hello

I would be interested to see how this works out for you. I also used a legit promo company, bookbuterfly, they get lots of good press and have been very helpful. However despite appeal to amazon sales rank has not been restored.

It does make me wonder now if there is any way forward? If I cant get the sales rank back to be honest what is the point? I'm now seriously out of pocket, the royalties would just about have covered the promo's I've just paid for and the AMS advertising and this is not something I want to risk again.

All my royalties that should have come through for this month have not been paid.

If you are referring to royalties from the Zon, they pay at the end of the month.

What's the problem with lacking a sales rank? I don't look at them much, now that I've dropped out of the four-digit class apparently forever. I suppose it's for people who search for maidens in threat from Scottish borderers? One wants to get on the first page of results?

Otherwise, what difference does it make? I've certainly never not bought a book because it ranked 534,452.

(Don't trust KDP to publish a print edition. Don't trust CreateSpace to publish an ebook. Each does one thing well and the other thing poorly.)

Good luck! -- NJ

I don't think you meant for the above to go to me.

Salesrank is a major determinant for where your book appears in search results, which is a driver of sales. It's like Google page rank for book searches.

Can I ask how long it took for Amazon to restore a sales ranking, if they ever did?
Thank you

I'm curious also how long it takes to get rank back, or if you do get it back. I published a book on the 13th of Dec, had rank showing until the 15th, then suddenly the rank is gone. First email I sent said they would have a response for me in 3 days. It's been five days and I still haven't heard from Amazon or gotten my rank back on my book. I don't promote through companies and do very little promotion at all on facebook. I had good sales, but hardly anything unusual for me compared to prior releases. I've been publishing since 2012 and never had my rank pulled. If anyone knows why they would pull rank or if this is a glitch, I'd love to hear.
