Kindle page length

My paperback book is 242 pages.

When I first created a Kindle version, the Kindle version was also 242 pages.

I made some minor edits on the book (none affected the page count), updated the Kindle version, and then one day a week or 2 later the description on my Amazon Kindle page dropped to 208 pages. Interestingly enough, at exactly that time my Kindle sales dropped to about 1/2 of what they previously were. I used to average btwn 2-8 Kindle a day, and it went down to a consistent 0-4.

I called CreateSpace, who did the conversion - as well as Amazon and KDP at least 5 times now, and get pretty much the same exact response from them all, every time. It goes something like this:

"That's a mistake, I put the change in but it will take up to 24 hours before you'll see it." And then nothing changes.

The last time I called KDP, about 5 days ago, I was told the same thing again, and made clear that I was told that multiple times. The woman apologized and told me she would follow through personally and make sure it got changed. I thanked her.

My page count for the Kindle version is still 208.

I want to raise the price of my Kindle (topic for another thread), and can't justify it with a 208 page count. Anybody have any ideas what I can do to get them to actually fix this?

I can't help but wonder who you talked to as I've never seen a phone number listed for authors to call when they had a problem. Are you sure you didn't talk to the retail sales department?

Try using the 'Contact Us' below and don't expect a reply until tomorrow (Tues). The holiday has things running a bit slow also.
When you receive a reply, reply TO the message. Do not start a new thread to them.

I just click on help, contact us, and then make a selection in “account.” They’re closed right now (I checked to see how I did it), but when they’re open they give you the callback option (you give your number, they call you back). Maybe it doesn’t work with all the issue choices?

I’m going to have a go now at writing them too - and using the Amazon page option. Not sure why I didn’t use that initially, but maybe that’s also why I was able to get through and speak with someone? Not that it helped any...

Given your success, or lack of it, I think you should follow Donna's advice. I agree that you talked to someone unconnected with KDP technical support.

(Don't trust KDP to publish a print edition. Don't trust CreateSpace to publish an ebook. Each does one thing well and the other thing poorly.)

Sent a message. Got a response. Was told it will be resolved by Jan. 8. We'll see.

Thanks.

EDIT: Seems to be fixed. Hope it stays that way. Was fixed for a couple of days last month and then went back to 208. I’m hopeful this time for some reason :).
