Hello all! I'm unable to find anything that explains the pricing structure so I can't find out why I am not able to offer anything below 2.99 (US market). I have short stories and I feel a lower price is a better value for those. Any tips on where to find that info? Also, I know Amazon has a 99c program called 'Kindle Singles' and that's where I'd like to put several things. Sadly, I can't find info on THAT either, lol. Help please!

If you select the 35% royalty option, then it will allow you to price it as low as 99 cents. Before entering the price, you need to select 35%.

Hi, Kindle Singles is a program that showcases ebooks from 5,000 - 30,000 words. Amazon selects the works that they showcase. In order to be part of the program you have to submit your work to them.

If you select 35% royalty and Amazon still won't let you drop your price below $2.99, you may have a file size problem. If it's too large, they won't allow you to sell for the lower price. If this is causing your problem, you need to optimize your cover image and compress your manuscript file.

Good luck!

What is the advantage to being a "Kindle single" versus just being a novella or novelette published for the Kindle? Pricing and royalty info seems the same if you're at 2.99 - 4.99.

The Kindle singles program just seems a good fit for shorter works.

Sorry, roseannhaines, I guess I wasn't clear. I mean, how is it different from just publishing normally? I already have short works published on Kindle. How would they be different if they were "Kindle singles"? The length would be the same; the price would be the same; the royalties would be the same. I just don't get what the difference is. Are they listed in some other place, or something?

(edited for silly typo)

I believe the Singles program allows you to put a short-story in for 70% at a price between .99 and $2.98. There's some sort of application and approval process and I don't know if they take all genres or not, but it could be really useful for people with short, high caliber .99-ish pieces.
