I really don't know how it works, as like I say, I live in Japan and I have no idea when these things tend to start. What I have found, though, is that I get the full amount of time, even if it starts after I expect it to. Might be good idea to keep a note of when it finishes just to check.
In any case, I downloaded your story and am looking forward to reading it!
Author of the (truly magnificent) Tube Riders
Exactly the same thing has happened to me and two other authors I know a 12 hour delay! You feel such an idiot as I had been trying to get onto the Free sites such as Pixel of Ink and sent out loads of emails last week to them all. Oh well.
Hey dude, I've been reading your story. I'm about halfway through, probably going to finish it later today so I'll let you know what I thought. It's good so far, though, very readable! A couple of pointers re. formating - one is justify your text. Also, I'm reading on an iPhone (which I hate!) but on such a small screen the indents look huge. You're using tabs, yeah? Go in and change it to three single spaces instead (I got that off someone else on here and it makes my stuff look okay on the small screen). Otherwise no probs. Not spotted any typos or anything and I'm pretty looking forward to seeing how it ends!
I formatted everything in inDesign, with the indents set at .3 inch/2 picas automatically. I think it looks good on my Kindle at that size, but I'm sorry to hear that smaller displays are looking crappy.
Thanks for letting me know, though. I'll look into that! Certainly don't want people annoyed while reading my stuff!
