Looking for something to read

The problem is that it's hard to pin down exactly what I like. Lately I've been reading fantasy, but not horror/zombies/scifi. The last two things I read and enjoyed were The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern and Aurora Abroad by indie author Karen Kiefer. I can read something challenging or light as long as it has an original story. I'd really like to read another indie author. Any suggestions?

On the basis that you will probably be inundated with requests, here are just a few that I have read most recently and are excellent.

You sound like my perfect reader, considering I WROTE "Strange Roads" because I like to read fantasy and am tired of the same-old same-old. (Yes, it has a vampire in it; no, it's not a "vampire book.") Fantasy, action, a smattering of history, and grown-up characters who don't spend ALL their time whining.

Yeah, I figured I'd probably be inundated, too. I've looked through some of the self promotion threads, but I see a lot of straight romance, thrillers, mystery etc, and I really want something unusual.

Best thing I read lately was the Wool omnibus by Hugh Howey. Well written. Just the right mix between action and exposition.

I'm also looking for some new Indie authors. Maybe we set up a guideline that you can't recommend yourself or your own work, just for this once? :)

Hi,

I hope you find something you enjoy. This might not be your thing, but people have said it's an unusual subject. The first 4 chapters are free, so you can try it out.

Young singers at an opera school learn drama, movement and music. Their passion for opera unites them. Their love affairs, ambition and political views divide them.

Themes are love, music, mystery and theatre.

Here are ar the UK and US links.

My book is 'Genome' http://www.amazon.com/Genome-ebook/dp/B007G1BVYU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1335285724&sr=8-1

It's not your normal SciFi. I wanted to combing hard core science with ghosties and graveyards and a sexy AI.

Give it a try and let me know if I hit the mark.

Happy reading!

Hey dofthec!

As an indie author, it would be wrong not to have enough faith in my own book to blatantly plug it here for ya.

Read the first chapter of The Son of Perdition in the Look Inside feature at http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0079II88M and then decide whether you'd like to read the remaining 19 chapters or not.

I hope you do...

Cheerios!

Here's something different. Try out mine, the first in the series, The Boy who Lit up the Sky. SciFi (light not too techie), Fantasy (definitely), Romance (gets hot and heavy in books 2 - 3), Politics (yep), Spiritualism, all of the above.

Enjoy.

How about something different, completely unique?

My book is about growing up with spirits and how you can connect as well to your guides and animal totems. This is a heartwarming book about compassion, family (and our pets), and love. This book is recommended for anyone who believes in Mediumship, enjoys short stories, inspirational stories, and discovering the wisdom of the other side. Includes Channeled info on healing.

I love the idea of not recommending your own book, but somehow I doubt it will work :) I would recommend Aurora Abroad for someone who likes fantasy/fairytales. It's a fun, light read, and no I don't know the author.

Some definite contenders here. I downloaded Strange Roads because I'm curious enough to keep reading. I hope I can be completely honest and say there were typos in the excerpt that bugged me a little. So far the story has been compelling enough to overlook them, though, and I'm looking forward to reading more. I'll check out some of the others tonight.

I guess I'll add mine to the list also!

Its about witches and Icarians(humans with wings, not to be confused with angels). Go check it out, see if you want to read it.

Thanks!
