I'm trying to do shorts, but sometimes I feel guilty for not going back to my long story nature as a writer. When I was in my fan fiction days, I did over 150k on one story. That was back in 2005, though. It's amazing how more responsibility drags down the time for writing.

I have a ton of projects apart from erotica that I want to get to. Sadly, they take up so much time, that I feel I'll never get them out. Good luck to the both of us, to reach our goals!

Thanks so much for the input Morgan and Writerbn.

I'm really hoping that once I hit 30 or so stories that sales will start to become more regular. Perhaps even earn a tiny steady income someday.
I think my stuff is interesting. Hope I have a chance.

Hi Sephera!!! Fancy seeing you here. :)

Is 30 a magic number? I hit 31 last year and my sales were fairly consistent for a while, but was it just a coincidence with your wish to hit it?

I read an article that said you don't really gain any traction in that category until you have at least 30 titles online. Then you start to get repeat sales, and it snowballs a little.
So to me, that's the magic target #1.

I might not apply then, since while I had that number, I didn't have them spread across the same sub-genre. I'm all over the place.

I'm up to 40 now, but I guess I need to aim for 30 in one category. Although, truthfully, I have no end number goal. My excel sheet says I need 22,000 more (at the current rate) to hit my immediate goal. Fortunately, it goes down every few page reads, so I'm hopeful the real number is a lot closer. :P

My last post was moderated for some unknown reason.

I pr*ce my ebooks the same regardless of word count, so long as they are under 100 "pages". Over that length, I use a different pr*ce.

I don't keep track of word count that closely. The story more or less dictates the length, the average story being between 25-50 "pages" or so. I.e., a 'short'.

I just came across an author who was cranking out a story every few days, all around 15-17 pages, and all at $2.99. And they were in the top 50 of erotica > thriller

Weird.

Perhaps he or she became established early on, and has an audience that is fine with that pr*ce range for shorter stories.

To me, $2.99 for 15 or so "pages" seems a bit steep. But if they get away with it, so be it.

It's more like 100 titles these days, but yes, I've seen the snowball effect happen.

I was worried about that. That the number required just keeps going up. :P But oh well, who wants to stop at a certain number of titles? I'm sure we all would write thousands if we had it in us.

I likely do have thousands in me... the ideas are easy and plentiful. It's churning out the whole thing and polishing that slows me down. I don't want to put out junk.

That's what I mean by 'having it in us'. It's actually getting a product assembled that is worthy to be released. It's pretty easy to envision countless scenarios in the genre. :)

The magical power of "sheer bloody-mindedness"!

Seriously though, I wonder how people put out so many so fast. Redbull? Ritalin? Crack? Have I just been using coffee like a sucker?
