What's a good total number on a free 5 day promotion. I just went on one book from ranking 84 to 64 - for 1 additional book. A few days ago when it was new I was in 13. I think I'm developing a good strategy for a 3 part series I'm writing.
What's a good number of "sales" on a free 5 day promotion.
How long is a piece of string? There's no way to know what is "good" for you.
For me, "good" is hitting the top 100 in my genre, so the "also boughts" kick in. Also seeing titles by the same author start to sell more, either at the same time or in a few days.
I don't really look at the totals--it varies a lot, too. I mean, it takes different amounts to get you into the top rankings in different months.
If you put the first part of your series free, and it did well, AND when people get around to reading it they really like it, that should definitely help your second and third parts. I can't see any point in setting the second or third part of a series free, but as long as all three are released or available at the same time, then setting the first one free can give the series a nice boost.
You'll notice some series (like Hunger Games) have a cheaper price for the first volume, permanently. Same theory.
