I posted my short story through KDP on Thursday. it still says it is in draft on my bookshelf page, It was my understanding that they publish through the eBook format within 24 to 48 hours. is this correct? Has it taken longer for any of you?

it will show as draft for longer. under the title you should see an ASIN number. if you search www.amazon.com/dp/asin number you should see your book. it usually goes live within 24 hours, but shows as draft for longer. if there's no ASIN number are you sure you pressed publish?

It doesn't move out of draft without some action on your part. Either you didn't click on publish, and so only saved the file, or Amazon has a problem with your submission and moved it into draft mode. Check your email account of record to see if Amazon has sent you a note. They may require proof that you own the rights or they may have a problem with the content. Be sure to check the SPAM box if you use Yahoo.

If you haven't received a letter, then go to the Bookshelf and edit the book. Make sure that all required fields have been completed, then press PUBLISH, not SAVE.

When you press PUBLISH, the book goes into REVIEW mode. It will be like that for anywhere up to several days, but it could move much quicker. Then it moves to PUBLISHING, and finally LIVE.
