I am making most of my sales on Amazon.com, though I live in Ireland. Amazon then takes 70% though I set rate at 35% and even readers in Ireland have to download from US site! Whereas UK charges me only 35%. Is there a way around this?
Well, Ireland should never have left the sterling bloc! You are as foreign to the UK blokes as a lad in Lichtenstein.
Amazon doesn't put you into the 35 percent royalty because you live in Ireland, but because your purchasers live outside the US. You get the 70 percent royalty on any sales in the US (and, I think, Canada).
Similarly, you get the 70 percent royalty on any sales in the UK store to UK and I think Oz purchasers, in the DE store to purchasers from several German-speaking countries, etc.
Given the rather large Irish-American population (we had an Irish-American president before we had a black one--or a Mormon, for that matter) an Irish-interest book ought to sell well on the Com site.
