In the midst of my recent wallow in self doubt, something cool happened.
One of my titles – under my real name – a family book (not this naughty erotica I sometimes write) – is currently ranking #19 in Kindle Store > Kindle eBooks > Nonfiction > Lifestyle & Home > Home & Garden > Crafts & Hobbies > Crafts for Children
Now sales on this particular book are teeny tiny, yet I’ve sold a few this month.
The book is Craft Classics – and I recently changed the book cover, and put it through a re-edit.
The history of this book dates back over 30 years. I started it when our son was in pre-school. I started collecting craft projects – and then testing them with our son, and then daughter – talking photos of the projects.
My idea back then was to do a craft book for kids. Initially it was called Crafts for Kids – but I changed it to Craft Classics.
When we published our community paper in So Ca, I’d include a craft project each month – with a photo.
I eventually published the book through Lulu – yet it was full color and way too expensive.
Then came the iPad and color readers – so I went the eBook route.
It is funny, while I don’t sell a lot (compared to my erotica) – I get more tickled every time someone buys one of these.
You're on track. That's for sure. I write on several genre. My best returns come on my guide books, with my mini-historical epic war stories second (in sales, not in quality). "Different strokes for different folks!" Anon.
(Okay technically these are pornographic images, but honestly...I think you'll be okay to click. And they're not photos, they're 3D impressions made of paper. Bit like when a paperback book -- remember those? -- has an embossed title).
