Mine are 53 with two borrows for 'twig'. It's my only book on Kindle until my trilogy starts in July.

You have only been at it a few months. Even before Select screwed us up, most authors found it took a year to get going. A tip from me, write a series. Keep your covers the same but different. I like the idea that someone can recognize that it is one of my books without reading the font.

{I started with a 86,000 word novel and now I have 6 novelettes that follow the original story. The novel is $3.99 and the novelettes $1.49.}

Thanks Thom, that's great news to hear!

I'm writing my sequel now, and it should be completed by September. I agree about the covers. I'm sticking with the same designer for next novel, and think I'm going to be aiming for similar elements for each design but with different colours. Inside Evil has a very green overtone because of the forest elements, but The Tower of Souls will have a silvery hue due to the wintery world of its setting.

Thanks again, hearing that it can take a year or so is nice to hear after a few months of low sales. :)

Well..for my part, just under 3000 units for the month over all Amazon outlets. I have four titles available and two more on the way. Sales are down this month by about 46%, and that's after a 3 day free promo on all my books . . . as they say, go figure . . .

I had a quick look at your book. This is my opinion only:
  • I can't tell what genre it is or what age group by the very short blurb
  • I read a few pages; some readers don't like F bombs.
  • you don't have any tags. It's my understanding that you enter some
tags yourself (I do) so that potential readers have an idea of subject matter.

I reported earlier in the month that my sales were down, but now my sales + borrows are up over last month. Not by a huge number, but I'll take up a little over down any day!

I get the 250 free business cards at vistaprint.com (just $5 something shipping). I have all my current books listed on them with my authors webpage address and I hand them out everywhere I go. At this price it's totally cost effective to print up new ones each time I publish a new book.

Also, I had magnetic signs made up for each book and have them on my car. I just got the signs two days ago and my sales are already up almost 20%. My sales had been stagnant for the past week and then the sales picked up just these past two days I've been driving around with the signs. Coincidence? I'd like to think the signs are working. :)

Saxon,

All five still in top 100. DigitalDonna says I will get cover for 6th book this weekend. Phase two will then be put in effect.

There again I still think your advice resulted in 95 % of my new sales.

You are indeed the smartest bear in them dem woods!

Depressing. After 50 sales in the first 20 days I've had 2 in the last 10. Guess I'll go eat worms...

You have a badass cover. I've downloaded the sample. If I like what I read I'll pick it up. I'm a very slow reader, though ...!
