I feel that Kindle Self Publishing is a scam. The reports showed that I sold my book "Smoking Relaxes Me and Other Lies" in the months of April/May 2012 with over 100 copies sold and I never received a dime. I am unpublishiing the book and will not recommend this site to anyone. First of all you can't get in touch with anyone, by email or otherwise and secondly, they don't pay you the money they show you earned. It's bogus.

Have you read the FAQs regarding payment? Did you opt to be paid by EFT or by check? Did you fill out your bank information? Are you aware that you will be paid approximately 60 days after the end of the first month in which there is $10 or more worth of royalties in your account for EFT payment, or $100 if you have elected to be paid by check? (And of course you're talking about genuine sales, rather than free promotional giveaways, right?)

"The fault, dear Brutus, is {usually} not in our stars, but in ourselves." (Bracketed word added.)

You are, of course, free to unpublish your book, but I can't see how that does anything but work against you.

(And there is a "Contact Us" button at the the bottom of each page here in KDP. Alternatively, you could go to Authors Central, and ask them to call you.)

Whatever you choose to do, I hope it works out to your satisfaction.

Looks like you went ahead and unpublished without awaiting anybodies input, that seems to have been a rather rash decision?

I recieve cheques monthly.

I can however see a cached page of your book, priced $4.99, and it says that it had a sales rank of 535,923 on 28th July.

That's very low for a book which sold 100 copies in April and May?

How much does your April and May monthly reports show that you earned exactly? That should tell you exactly how much you are owed.

Then you need to determine whether you have elected to be paid by check or bank deposit, have you for example failed to specify this? Are your address details correct? Are your bank details correct? Have you provided your social security number?

Those are the things that I would do before unpublishing a book and calling a site a scam. I get great cheques every month from KDP like clockwork, so I'm pretty sure that it isn't ;)

In fact at $4.99 for a 22 page book (if you can call it that), I'd probably identify you as the scam rather than Amazon.

I'd find it extremely difficult to believe that you sold one hundred copies of that book at that price.

Would it be speculation for me to perhaps suggest that you are just another one of those people who puts their book on a FREE promo and then wonders where their money is?

Free download = $0.00 royalty.

Sale at $4.99 = $3.49 royalty

Case closed?

If you are UK user you will have to pay the tax witholding on it anyway until you get your ITIN sorted. This would put you below the threshold.
