I just received about four small payments from KDP that were from many months back -- all the way back to November 2011! What is this about? Corrections from past accounting mistakes? Late payments from other countries?
None of them were marked as from Europe.

Sounds like the result of an audit.

I remember reading somewhere on the forums that at the end of its fiscal year amazon sends accrued payments that haven't reached the $10 or $100 threshold for payment. If amazon is on a Jan.-Dec. fiscal year, maybe you had a few sales from .it or .es or one of the other sites and they're sending those payments out so their books for the current fiscal year are in order.

Sorry, I over looked your comment about none of the sales being from Europe. So unless you had a few sales in Japan, just ignore my message.

Timucuan,

Checked your rank on newest yesterday. Down in the 3,000s. Way to go!

Also I noticed that the number 100 book in that BSL was about 10,000.

The #100 on the BSL list I am on hovers around 100,000.

What a difference between BSL ranks!

Congrats on your spectacular come back,

Thom

Thanks. Nice of you to comment. I better not wait so long to publish a new book next time. Everyone keep writing.

I know what you mean, Tim. If I could, I'd take your suggestion. I've been unable to commit the last month. I've about six different manuscripts started. Writer's ADD perhaps?

Even today I decided to focus on marketing instead of writing, especially with some Black Friday sales planned for ARe. But what am I doing? Wandering off here while checking my stats. I suppose I can chalk it up to the fact it is lunch time here. ;)

Be well.

I've had one of those before. I think Amazon keeps finding money stuffed between the couch cushions. I've suspected for a while that the Zon's reporting is screwy, so everyone who's having lousy sales this month may find themselves getting unexpected payments later, though it may take them a while to arrive.

For the European markets like Spain, Italy, France, etc, Amazon will not cut a check until the total sales reach ten dollars. Then they'll send a check. I suspect that is what you received. It does take several months for some of the countries to reach that total. Congrats on your success.

"Marked from EU" is pretty discreet - I know a lot of authors who miss the source of the KDP payments. Amazon US payments start like this:

*****************PLEASE DO NOT RESPOND TO THIS EMAIL********************

The following payment is related to digital royalties for Amazon.com.

THAT FIRST SENTENCE ALWAYS IDENTIFIES THE STORE IT'S FROM. MY ITALY CAME TODAY AND IT WAS A BUNCH (5, THE FIRST ONE FROM JAN 2012) OF SMALL PAYMENTS EQUALLING ABOUT $13. (APOLOGIES ON ALL CAPS BUT THE BOLD/ITALICS/UNDERLINE WON'T WORK FOR SOME REASON)

*****************PLEASE DO NOT RESPOND TO THIS EMAIL********************

The following payment is related to digital royalties for Amazon.it.
