When I'm trying to post, this displays above the message box and subject line:

Type a reply to the thread using the form below. When finished, you can optionally preview your reply by clicking on the "Preview" tab. Otherwise, click the "Post Message" button to submit your message immediately.

Really? WHAT "preview" tab? There is no preview tab. The "save now" button does not work. NONE of the icons work, to this day. I've tried every browser available. It doesn't work in Firefox, Internet Exploder, Chrome, etc. What, does this only work in Silk?

The irritation that this causes long-time posters is not a joke. Why should any of us continue to post when we have to resort to HTML tags to add any type of text enhancement, we can't post images or screenshots to help the newbs, we can't see any other posts in the thread, to respond to, unless we open the forum in another tab--are you planning on doing anything about this? Or are you just going to leave this as a crap forum? Really? You're AMAZON, for crying out loud, one of the biggest companies on the PLANET, and you can't fix this damn forum so it works for the people who post here?

You were told about these problems months ago by JBigToad first. Many people, myself included, chimed in.

KDP ADMIN: PLEASE FIX THE FORUM.

Respectfully, but with frustration,

Hitch

I just wish they would fix the font size. I am constantly having to adjust it between this and the reports.

Or at least post a list of the tags that actually DO work, like how an (asterisk) before and after a sentence makes it bold.

And how an "en" dash (plus space) makes a "bullet point."

  • Anybody know what the fudge makes italics?

Cause those are the only two I know, LOL.

Private Messaging would be nice, too.

A "LIKE" or "THANKS" button would be nice to acknowledge a good post without having to add to the thread.

Also, the link that is supposed to show the users online usually only lets you see 1 page of the logged in users. Very frustrating. Why doesn't THAT work correctly?

Also, other forums that I've seen have a Sticky section that remains fixed at the top of each sub-forum. These sticky posts are usually locked, only to be edited by admins or authors of that thread. For example, the "Newbies start here" would be a good sticky topic to stay at the TOP of the General Questions subforum.

golem2b:

Obviously, I know how to make these, too--most of us have figured out how to kluge HTML in here so that we can make bullets, asterisks for bold, etc. But the forum seems like a bastard half-bred caught between Textile Markup (which is why the right bracket can be used for a blockquote, as we don't have a real "quote" function and why the dash makes a bullet; it's also why asterisks work for bold, although some TM makes that italicized) and HTML Because after the few TM aspects, to make other functions work, like italics, we have to resort to HTML.

I agree that PM's, and likes and dislikes would be VERY nice to have. Now, only the OP (Original Poster) can mark posts as helpful, correct, etc. It's idiotic.

I find it hard to believe that Amazon can't afford to license something like Invision Power Board, VBulletin, or, for the love of heaven, leverage all the programmatic power of AWS (Amazon Web Services) to make this forum **USEFUL**. It's just amazing to me. Amazon, if you want me to keep posting here, to help newbs, PLEASE! FIX THE FORUM!!!

ETA: Oh, yes, I forgot: none of the settings "stick." No matter how many times I reset number of threads to view, pages, etc., it does not "stay." Utterly worthless.

Well, putting an underline _ before and after does sort of make italics.

(Pity I can't preview this!)

Yes: underlining was how we indicated italics on those Army-surplus olive-green Remington typewriters.

Personally, I could do without Private Messaging. You'll just end up with a bunch of idiots using it to go behind some poor slob's back to gang up on him.

On the other hand, at least DD will finally have to learn some HTML!

Ah, so it's regular html tags using the "arrow" keys, except when it isn't?

I got this.

I don't really ever use "underline," anyhow.

BWAHAHAHAHAHA.

And, yes, to whomever it was--html works, except when it DOESN'T. Like using brackets for links--that's straight-up Textile Markup. Like I said, this is now some bastard hybrid. Vexing!

What "inset" thing? Do you mean the blockquote that everyone's using for quoted material?

Use the right-bracket.

And, KDP ADMIN: BUMP!
