New cover. Price change from 99 cents to 3.99 (I ran a 99 cent promo for the weekend). With the new cover came a new licensing statement. So, my book is still "being published" but I noteced the interior (licensing info) and price change have gone thru. Issue with this...the cover did not change at the same time so for however long that takes my licensing info on the interior crediting the copyright holder is for the wrong image. Probably not a huge big deal, but still.
The pricing was also changed from 99 cents to $3.99 digital list price $2.99 amazon price (I assume because NOOK is still running it at 2.99 despite attempts to pull it from B&N)...then an hour later Amazon has changed the price to 0.00 (FREE).
What gives on the 0.00???
...and I do wish all the changes would occur at the same time. Image, interior, price change. Not in little bits.
The Look Inside does sometimes take several days to update, so even though people buying your book will get the latest version you uploaded, those previewing it may not.
The zero price is something of a surprise. If you're in Select, look again and make sure they aren't saying that you're "free for Prime borrowers."
Or do you have it free elsewhere, and they're price-matching? Or maybe they're featuring you in a promo? (I'd think they'd say.) It's probably worth asking (through Contact Us, very bottom right corner of the page).
My book was pulled from KDP Select a few days ago because NOOK is clinging to it despite requests to unpiblish it and remove from their program. It's listed there at 2.99 (and I figured why they initually changed it from 99 cents to my 3.99/their 2.99...but them an hour later changed it to 0.00. It's not available anywhere else but NOOK for 2.99. I plan to reenroll in KDP once NOOK cooperates.
I'm totally confused why they would go from my 3.99(their 2.99 I assume is a price match so no big deal) to 0.00.
One possibility: When you tried to get into Select (in spite of B&N's effort to mess you up), did you schedule free days? Might this be the free days appearing when you originally scheduled them, due to one computer not talking to another? Definitely contact Amazon for clarification.
I had scheduled a free promo day but for yesterday, not today. 1 sold earlier today (a normal sale, 99 cents)...the free thing is just with my revision tonight. It's showing up unde free price match -- 7 copies given away already. sigh
I've scoured the 'net for other outlets that I've missed...it's just on NOOK for 2.99. Stupid B&N. I've sent a note to Amazon to see what's up but they say it may take 24 hours to hear back. I wonder how many copies will be given away in that time...could be hundreds. I bet I never see funds from them.
Off to BING some more...maybe I missed something the first 20 searches lol.
It's probably delayed from yesterday's scheduled-but-then-canceled promotion then. Very glitchy! What a pain in the neck. If the price is listed as free, you won't get paid for anything that people download while it's free. But Amazon should cancel your promo, since you're no longer in Select! How many days had it been scheduled for?
I see stray reports sometimes a few weeks late. For example, I have a book that's permanently free now, and about a week after it went free, three paid sales showed up. I don't know when they were from, but obviously at least a week prior.
I'm pretty sure it's NOT the free promo since when free promos download it shows up in reports as "free promos"...the 11 copies sold for 0.00 now are under "free price match." The promo was slotted to run for 1 day, 1/12-1/12 (not possible for it to have gone 1/12-1/13 since i only had one day left to use)
It's not the biggest deal in the world as long as they fix it. I've given away about 1300 copies now...what's 11 more? Just wish it was under my own promo decision. and if they do not fix it I want to understand where they are price matching from since I cannot find ANYTHING online to match it to aside from NOOK at 2.99 (Grace Lost by M. Lauryl Lewis)
Hopefully the extra free copies will turn to sales for the 2nd book.
I think so. I just found it too. SM still has live links on NOOK, which I have known about for a few days, and also SONY (not sure why it's 0.00 on Sony because I never set it that way)...Smashwords is not answering my emails. Grrr. B&N has hung up on me 3 times with a total of 8 tries with customer support and no help.
18 free downloads now. I'm going to kick back and just watch them roll in....look at it as "free" free promo days. I'll tell ya though...I'm within a few months of uploading the 2nd book in the series. I will NOT be publishing outside of Amazon on that one. No way do I want to go thru this whole mess again. I've come to terms with this 1st book not being a big money maker (ok, yet)...and I'll just look at each free copy as hopefully hooking another fan and reeling in sales later on
