The free period for my book ended with over 1000 downloads, however now I know around five people who have purchased it for 3 dollars yet these sales aren't showing in my report. What's going one?

A couple of possibilities. It may be that the sales just haven't showed up on your reports yet, as there is sometimes a delay (look just at month-to-date report). It may also be that the people "meant" to buy the book but haven't actually done so yet, in spite of what they told you. They may have purchased it but not actually downloaded it yet, and my impression is that a sale doesn't register until the download. Wait a few days and check again. (And don't look at your six-week report for answers, because it only updates once a week.)

My Reports tab has not opened all day. Another 'glitch.' I tire of the word. That is the only term we seem to receive in replies.

The report says, 'There are no sales to show during this period.' What does this mean?? Is my book not getting sold?

Yes, if it says there are no sales to show, it means there have been no sales.

I assume you're checking under "month to date." Everybody starts the month with "no sales." Just because you have no March sales, doesn't necessarily mean you had no February sales.

Also, note that month to date breaks sales down by country. So a person could have had a sale in the UK but none in the US/India.

What's going on out there in the world?

My Amazon sales are down over 50% this month over last few months to include February.

I can accept that there are ups-and-downs and flat spots in the market, but my non-Amazon
sales are more that doubled.

??? What the hey!

Okay so I was down in the pub and the bar man offered to buy my book. The screen was right in front of me so I saw him buy it yet it doesn't show in my report.

then I moved on to a different pub where the bar maid there bought the book. This time her buy showed up my report almost instantly.

So it didn't count around six or seven buys which went through but it only counted one.

Sorry but if money is going missing on me here then that's something totally rotten.

I've had a few days delay from buys. Maybe it depends on their bank or their credit card company. Who knows.

I'm having the same problems. People (good friends) are telling me that they've bought my books and they are not showing up on the sales reports. I'm missing 6 sales of one book. And 3 of 3 more books. That's a total of 9 sales. I know it's not much money, but it irks me that they're not getting this correct. I decided to investigate and bought books myself just to test this. Not all of them are showing up. Some are, some aren't. There's no rhyme or reason either. In fact, I bought 4 of my own books on the same ticket, and the same receipt. Two showed up. Two didn't. I've given it two days, almost 3 days now, and the sales are still not showing up. But the rankings on these books have changed. So I know the sales are in the system SOMEWHERE. The hard part to swallow is that they've charged me $1.99 for each of these books. Funny how there's no glitch in the part of their system that collects their money, only the part that pays us our money. Something is definitely going on. It's either ANOTHER software glitch, or they've got an employee who is getting greedy and dishonest. Either way, they need to fix it. Amazon is not a fly-by-night company. They are a professional organization who should have a professional programming staff able to handle this system, and they should be double checking their employees, like every other professional company in the world.

Hi, GINGER and PAUL !!

These assertions are very disconcerting! I suggest we take a tip from a couple of very powerful political figures of the 20th Century who used a certain phrase which I think pertains to this possible problem today:

Ronald Reagen (who used the phrase a lot), and Nikolai Lenin, who first used it:

" TRUST, But VERIFY!"

I trust Amazon! But what harm would it do to verify that they are giving full credit to us when people buy our ebooks? I suggest as many people as read this thread get a friend or two to BUY A COPY OF THEIR BOOK over the next few days. This should ideally be done in a situation where you or they have an android or other mobile device, so that YOU CAN ABSOLUTELY VERIFY that they actually DO purchase your book. Look, let's be fair! If you call your lady friend in Minot, North Dakota, and ask her to buy a copy, and she swears she will, and then swears she did, you have ABSOLUTELY NOTHING, no WAY to verify.

But if you do as Paul did, and go into a bar, and chum-it-up, (talking up your book in a tavern or lounge sounds like a great way to keep book sales up to the level of your night life, anyway!), and they buy a copy, and you can see the screen, and it is confirmed, etc., then, OKAY!! You have a PURCHASE VERIFICATION.

Why is this important? Because maybe in a few days from now you will call Amazon/Kindle customer service and inform them that a definite purchase made on such-and-such a date and time and place did not receive a corresponding report of a sale in your Sales Report.

If enough people do that, Amazon/Kindle may determine from that VERIFIED information, that there is a BUG IN THEIR SYSTEM SOMEWHERE.

" TRUST, But VERIFY! "

If someone has other ideas, ... please! Let's hear them. But as for me, I will ask a Significant Other to buy a copy of one of my ebooks overnight. And then I want to come back on here and report how it went!

Best Wishes in this Endeavor!

Thanks ED!

100% of my purchases were verified before I posted this. There were 9 sales missing for 4 days.
However, 4 days later now, I THINK they are all there. I say THINK because I'm not sure if someone else bought the books and THOSE sales are now showing up. Anyway, I can no longer complain since all of the purchases that I personally had a hand in, or saw firsthand, are now showing on my sales report. One book hasn't sold ANY in the last month, so I'm pretty sure that the ONE sale showing up on the report was from me.
It took 4 days to finally show up. They must be having some kind of issues, which happens with computers/web. So I guess the lesson here is: BE PATIENT. Amazon will eventually put our sales on our sales report.
I would like to point out that I wasn't ACTUALLY accusing Amazon of any wrongdoing. I was just suggesting that one possibility was that maybe ONE employee was getting a little greedy. I hope that they are safeguarding themselves against such a possibility. Embezzlement happens everywhere. No one is immune. Even McDonalds has checksafes in place for their employees. And let's not forget the countless famous Ponzi schemes.
Anyway, my complaint is withdrawn since my test is now proven in Amazon's favor. Slowly, but yes-proven.

IF YOU ARE MISSING SALES ON YOUR SALES REPORTS, PLEASE READ THIS.

Hi well, I ran into an interesting phenomenon last night when I asked friends to buy the book you know what I was asking people that don't have Kindle! Paul any chance when you were in the bar and
asked people to buy your ebook, they went ahead with it but they didn't have Kindle? From what I can tell you can't order an ebook from Kindle unless you have a Kindle or you can order it and pay for it but you won't be able to download it if you don't have th kindle!

Would this not explain some or All of the statistical anomalies?

(Sorry for typos writing with 6 pt type on an android.,using voice to text)

ED,
I saw the books actually downloaded, and onto a real Kindle four days ago. So, that's not MY temporary problem. Somehow, they just didn't record my sales for four days. Still having a little trouble believing that they were that slow in putting those on my sales report, but as long as they're there now, I'm good. That might explain some of the other problems that other authors are having though.

Ginger I think it's fantastic that you got all your sales on your sales report now, and even more fantastic that you got them after 4 days of not getting them, so soon affer you posted a loud complaint here on the Forum! Seems that you discovered something very sensible: that whenever you're not getting sales on your reports that you're pretty darn sure you should, post it on the Forum! LOL! Maybe it was a coincidence. Maybe it was an artifact. As every numerologist will tell you, there's strength in numbers, since 1-on-1 with customer service can be a lonely place.

Now a good friend who has Kindle for Mac, bought my $3 99 offering today, ulp, make that 'yesterday', at 4:20pm, and I checked my Sales Reports frequently.. and at just about 5:20, almost exactly one hour later, the sale hit my reports page! ---Yaaaaaaay team! --- I plan to keep doing this to make sure that what Paul and you Ginger, originally reported, is not real, and does not indicate a threat to the income that we deserve.

One of the other forums, the name of which I just can't remember at the moment, also has a thread about problems with Reports, going on right now, too. I did just post some comments there... some emotional moments by some puzzled authors. It might be worth looking into.
