I only have 132 friends on Facebook. I tried to add a few more by sending out a couple of 'friend request' to people who have the same interest as me. I do NOT have hundreds or thousands of 'friends' like some of the people I know. Please note, that in the last 2 weeks, I have met some lovely people and so far nearly all of them I have sent requests to accepted me and we are happily "chatting" and "Like"-ing almost on a daily bases.

Yesterday, I sent out about 25 "friend requests" (11 of them already accepted me) and this morning (for the second time) I received the following message from Facebook:

"If you continue to send friend request to people you do not know, you could be permanently blocked".
I had to tick a box, saying that "I understand that sending friend request to people who do not know me could cause me to be permanently blocked".

How am I supposed to use social media to promote my book, title: Arty, Crafty, Nasty? (Or may be I should get the message finally and stop promoting it?)

Best regards to you all.

It does happen. Spamming is also an offense that can result in being blocked.

Being blocked by Facebook somehow puts me in mind of Groucho's snark that he wouldn't be a member of any group that would accept him as a member!

Good one!
For the life of me, I still don't get it. So far I told this to a few people and not one of them understand this.

Twenty-five requests is not "a few". It's a quantity that appears to Facebook to be spamming. Particularly if the people who accept check off the ticky box that says they don't know you outside of Facebook.

If you keep it to two or three requests a day, you probably won't get busted for it. Did you read Facebook's Terms of Service?

So what you are saying that all my friends, who have 500 - 5000 friends all know each other, but I'm guilty as hell for daring to collect a few friends from the list Facebook provides me with. (I have a total of 140 friends)
Bad, bad women I am, aren't I?

Not bad, but kind of snarky. You asked a question, provided data, and then snarled at the answer. I don't control how Facebook works; I merely took the time to figure it out. People don't acquire FB friends 25 at a time. It takes a while.

I appreciate you time and effort trying to figure out the reasons behind Facebook's decision, but you did not address all my questions. Please understand my frustration: I have only 140 'friends'.

Facebook sent me the following message:
"If you continue to send friend request to people you do not know, you could be permanently blocked".

I had to tick a box, saying that "I understand that sending friend request to people who do not know me could cause me to be permanently blocked"."

My question is: Do people with 500 - 5000 friends all know each other?
How did they meet all their ' friends', if they weren't allowed to send out 'friend request's?
What is the real function of 'friend request", if you can not request?
Why do you get tempted by the 'People you might know' or the 'Suggest friends to so and so' function, if you can NOT use it?

I still don't know what I'm doing wrong and none of my friends understand it either.
