I want to put a link to a book in the Kindle store in a webpage that is viewed from the Kindle browser. I tried using the link to the Amazon page for my ebook, but from the Kindle browser it says "not found" even though this link works just fine from my computer.

What is the URL for the Kindle browser that would get you to a page in the Kindle Bookstore for a given ASIN? The Kindle browser does not display its URLs.

i can't think of why it wouldn't work, as long as your kindle's network connection is on (obvious, i know!). the URL in your A HREF tag should be something like this: http://www.amazon.com/In-Her-Name/dp/B001A7X0BI

what's the URL? i'll be happy to check it on my kindle, too...

cheers,
mike

The Whispernet connection is on and works fine. The URL is

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B001GIPJ2Y

Works from IE. From the Kindle, the browser redirects to a page that says "The item you are searching for could not be found." But the item is found in the Kindle Store.

The default Kindle bookmarks has a link to Amazon. Has anyone tried bringing up their Kindle books through that?

I'd like to know how to link to my other Kindle book listings from inside a Kindle book too.

I tried this and it just says "This item is currently unavailable" for everything if you do a book search. Strange.

Okay, I know this is possible because I just downloaded a sample ebook that has a "buy now" link and a link to the book's description page. What is the magic URL?

hey, all -

okay, i did a little research on this with my kindle. it looks like they have a filter set up to not allow links from kindle content to kindle store items except through the kindle's "store" interface.

i put together a test HTML file with a link pointing to my book in the kindle store, but got the same error you guys have been getting.

then i tried using the kindle's web browser and typing in the link directly: same thing.

and then i tried going to amazon through the kindle browser, and did a search on my book. an interesting result: only the print version appeared in the results (i just pulled on "in her name")! the kindle version wasn't listed at all in the search results, nor was it accessible from the print version's product page as displayed on the kindle.

i know that really only deepens the mystery, but it seems like amazon is trying to make sure everything from kindles flows to the kindle store directly. i agree that there should be some way to point from your kindle file to a kindle store link, but i don't see it! ;-)

cheers,
mike

Well, a method clearly exists because the sample books do it.

true, but i suspect they're using some sort of proprietary linking and/or redirects... :(
