Hello,

About an hour ago, I put a Kidnle Countdown promotion on a few of my books and a free promotion on some of my other books. I have gone to log back in now to check reports and it just keeps refreshing the page saying sign in...

My flatmate who is also a writer has received an email that says his account has been blocked as he has more than one Amazon account, which he doesn't.

The email they sent was...

Hello,

It appears that you have multiple KDP accounts, which is a violation of our Terms and Conditions, and that this account is related to an account that has already been blocked due to rights issues and violations of our Content Guidelines.

As a result, this account has been blocked and we are removing the books you have uploaded through KDP from the Kindle Store. Note that you are no longer eligible to receive unpaid royalties for sales that occurred prior to this termination. Additionally, as per our Terms and Conditions, you are not permitted to open new KDP accounts and will not receive future royalty payments from additional accounts created.

If you have any questions, please email us at ip-inquiries@amazon.com.

Best Regards,

Michael G.

My friend has just emailed them back saying he doesn't have two accounts. Could it have been flagged for having two accounts because he used my computer to login to his account as his computer was being fixed?

Whatever the reason, this is causing us both a lot of stress and needs resolving, but KDP hasn't got a phone number so we can call them and both talk to them at the same time to prove we are separate people.

The other thing is, I haven't received an email saying my account is blocked for any rights issues or any other reason?

Please help, or someone at KDP unblock our accounts.

I am dealing with the same issue. Offering a reward if someone can bypass. NOTEWORTHY. I just made 247.00 on Google play... they seem to be less restrictive. I am sure there is a way to get around it... but the social security number may be a problem. also Michael G is a complete assh0le he suspended my account for ZERO reason... literally! I believe the email said something towards the fact that they were trimming their publishers as their systems are overloaded. Said to try back in a few months.

A shared computer could cause problems, if the other person has been violating the TOS. In any event, use the Contact Us option.

Probably the shared computer is the problem. It looks to them that there are two accounts. One person having two Amazon.com accounts is forbidden, and they mean it- your friend/you could possibly be banned for life.

When I posted about this possibility and other problems that can arise for Indies, I was criticized and so posted nothing more on this subject. Evidently posting based on experience and possibly helpful information just provides opportunity for certain posters to criticize.

Your friend/you are not the only Indies this has happened to by a long shot, and what they usually end up doing after complaining long enough, is go elsewhere

I believe the email Customer Support personnel do not have the authority to reverse this TOS based decision, you are welcome to contact them all you/your friend want about this, but I doubt it will do any good. Doing so has not helped others.

In another attempt to possibly be helpful I am posting the email address of Mr. Jeffry Bezos, Founder, President and CEO of Amazon.com. I suggest you/your friend send him a very polite and very factual email letter. Mr, Bezos will never see it, but if you ask you will be told "he knows about it." And, the person who tells you this I believe probably does have the authority to make changes.

jeff@amazon.com

That's it. Good luck to you and all other Indies. Read the Amazon.com TOS and do not violate anything, because you do so at your peril.
.

Best regards,

Phillip Duke Ph.D.

This thread got me thinking...

Currently, my grown daughter is still living at home. She has her own account on Amazon, with different credit card/billing info - although she uses the same 'family' computer I do and where I publish under two different pen names.

What concerns me is: She is considering the submission of some of her own writings and becoming an author. Surely Amazon must consider such scenarios (Don't call me Shirley). It almost leads me to believe the BEST option if that she 'publishes' as a new pen name under my existing account - payments go to me, and I pay her from that - a mess.

In this same vein... I had a friend from out of state visit us a couple of years ago and this friend became my friend after he had purchased, read, and reviewed on of my books. That day he was visiting, he used my computer to log into his own account. Apparently, the IP address got noticed as the same as the one I've used and his reviews of my books disappeared. The thing is, at least some of those reviews were done before he even knew we lived less than 200 miles apart so they were 100% legal by every possible Amazon TOS regarding conflicts where the reviewer would have a material gain from posting a positive review. Even still, he doesn't have any material gain however, I suspect any new reviews he might post form his own computer won't make it because 'once', he used mine to order a product off Amazon.

Hello, it is good that you are thinking of these issues. I do not know what is best to do regarding your daughter, but suggest this as possibly being helpful- since she writes under her own name, and has her Amazon account with her own credit card, have her use just her own computer, and never let her use yours. And vice versa.

With her own name, account, email address, credit card and computer, even though she has a shared snail mail address, it appears evident that she is a separate person. To me anyway. I cannot speak for Amazon.com.

If you want you can email Customer Support, request a Supervisor, and explain the situation to that person. If he/she OKs it that hopefully gives you some protection in the future.

The problem is in part that Indies are not aware of this potential problem, and in part that low level Customer Support is contracted out mostly to the Philppines, and they have very limited authority. Once a TOS Rule is enforced, it is close to impossible to make a change, especially at that level. Being in contact with a Supervisor may possibly help (it did not help me).

The Mr. JB email address is IMO the best bet to try to make a change. When I contacted them by this method they still did not remove the vicious, spiteful, untrue and actually quite crazy spite "review" I brought to their attention. But I received the impression that at that level they could, if they wanted to.

I hope this is helpful, If you care to see the spite "review" it is available at http://Philduke.weebly.com under genre Science Fiction for my ebook "Star Ship To New Earth Now" along with my 36 other ebooks. Among other things the "reviewer" stated that Professor Albert Einstein's great work for which he received the Nobel Prize in physics is all "Poppycock Science," and in the KDP Forum stated he was "afraid of the stars." That fear was the motivation behind the "review," and of course the "reviewer" never read any of the ebook- he stated this in the Forum.

In this case I didn't care about lost sales etc., what I strongly objected to is the fact that this "Review" defames a great man now deceased, who cannot defend himself. For whatever it may be worth Jill Hanmer made the decision to keep the spite "review" up and running. Evidently Amazon.com management really likes these spite reviews.

Good luck to you and your daughter and all Indies- never give up no matter what.

Best regards,

Phil Duke Ph.D.

I just got the same email from KDP.

I'm not sure how they figure I have two accounts. I only have one.

Why would someone want two accounts? Seriously. If you want to use multiple pen names, just release books under your one account with your one pen name...

This is very annoying to me as my books were just starting to gain traction.

I had 2 accounts for a while because I found my KDP sign in would nto work to BUY things on amazon.
It took many many emails to get the new account I set up to buy deleted, YEt this is the least of my problems here.

I put up threads like 'Now that we have proof will amazon tell us the Truth? Truth about working with super secret and super illegal gov. programs such as those Edward Snowden and several other X-government employees tried to tell us about; and perhaps bring justice to the perps. HA!

I also posted MY LAPTOP DIED FOR YOUR SINS - about the pro-grade HP that is now not working at all - with a sophisticated malware virus which can be seen encoded down a copy of my main book - the copy uploaded to KDP. I assert my own publisher is not only working with illegal gov. ops. yet is the 1 company even Edward could nto find the key to ID - the one that is a total gov. front used to control International commerce and info distribution. 1 thread got to 8000 views with no rational reponse yet several taken down as hate speech and slander. THIS posting will destruct in 5, 4, 3...

I recently posted 'CRIMES I CAN PROVE SO FAR' about the censprship with extreme prejudice of my writings -
2 pages typed in on Friday - the thread blank on Saturday; when I was able to find it.

We call this confirmation by deletion.
IF there was some explanation for the things done to me here and on other sites it would be easy to give them - seems when people hide things they must have things to hide.

and yes i make a lot of typos since I have frostbit fingers and am living on the run - some secrets would have been better if - if - IF THAT SOD HAD NEVER RAPED AND INFECTED ME AT ALL!!!

I asked this question to kdp support..about sharing same IP with my spouse and the following confirmation was made:

Hello,

I hope you are having a great day! Thanks for reaching out to KDP Support and providing me the opportunity to help you.

Regarding your spouse creating a KDP account, she can definitely create her own KDP account by entering her contact, tax and bank information. There is no problem that you'd be sharing the same terminal (hence the same IP).

I hope this helps! Thanks for using Amazon KDP.
