Perfect Mobipocket file showing error on Kindle

We have created a perfect Mobipocket file which is having hyperlinked TOC and black and white images which show perfect on Mobipocket reader. When this file is published through the Kindle, it does not show TOC hyperlinked and images look washed out. Has anybody found this issue recently? Non of files earlier converted are having any of these issues.

Any suggestion why is the perfect file created in Mobipocket so bad on Kindle?

Thanks,

bob -

not sure what's going on with the TOC/links - how did you set those up?

as for the images, did you optimize them for grayscale first? and for kindle, they really need to be high-contrast or they'll always look washed-out...

cheers,
mike

Did you view your perfect Mobipocket file on a Kindle before being "published" through Kindle? I made a perfect Mobipocket book recently and when I copied it to my Kindle I noticed a few differences than when viewing it on my PC. I didn't bother trying to publish it until it looked "perfect" actually on my Kindle. Then, instead of uploading the HTML source files, I just uploaded the PRC Mobipocket file and it turned out perfect (Light Speed: Ultimate Destiny). Download the sample and if you like the format I can share the HTML source code, most of which I found here in the forums anyway.

Mike,

I used the tags of
and
.

Before Kindle changed the preview view these tags were working fine. As usual there is no response from DTP Admin on questions.

DTP Admin: If you are reading can you please advice for the tags for TOC and why blackand white images are not seen properly on the Kindle. What are specifications for formatting black and white images on Kindle.

Earlier all files looking good on Mobipocket were looking fine on Kindle too but now that has changed. This can be a big formatting issue as Kindle publishes all books published through Mobipocket. How do you take care of issues were file looking good on Mobipocket does not work fine on Kindle?

Your early reponse will be highly appreciated.

Thanks,

Bob

Instead use <A name="toc"/> . . . </A>

This example works fine:

<A name="toc"/>
<center><img src="\Table of Contents.gif" alt="Table of Contents"></center>
</A>

<BR>

<p class="normal"><A HREF="#Prolog">Prolog — Corporate warfare</A></p>

<p class="normal"><A HREF="#Chapter 1">Chapter 1 — Mining tactics</A></p>

<p class="normal"><A HREF="#Chapter 2">Chapter 2 — Dark master</A></p>

<p class="normal"><A HREF="#Chapter 3">Chapter 3 — Dangerous enemy</A></p>

lots of text in between

<A name="start"/><A NAME="Prolog">
<center><img src="\Prolog.gif" alt="Prolog"></center>
</A></A>
<p class="subchapter"><I>Corporate warfare</I></p>

etc. for each chapter link
