Has anyone noticed a problem with the reports this evening? The reports don't seem to have changed in several hours.

I have an honest question, after having seen several people post about sales reports not changing for a period of time every month.

Why does something always have to 'be up', or 'strange' when that occurs?

Maybe it's a just a slow period and no one's actually purchasing any ebooks. Maybe people are sleeping, eating a meal, or just not online shopping right then. ;)

This makes no sense gldrummond ... its simply a computing glitch, it happens from time to time when major companies are updating their systems or what not. The sales are still recording and will be up there tomorrow. Def not a slow period ... that's ridiculous.

Definitely must be a glitch. Mine haven't moved for 8 hours now, and I have a few free ebooks that are always getting downloads. They haven't moved either.

Considering the number of people complaining last month about their sales dropping, I don't think 'slow periods' are a ridiculous idea.

There is an ebb and flow, not always consistent, for sales of any product. Why should ebooks be different?

I know over the past three years, I've had several sales over a couple of days' time, and then had a week go by without any sales. Then had one or two pop up, or several happen. I've never assumed that those sales happened and it just took a week for Amazon to get around to letting me know about them.

In fact, I've purchased my own ebook just to see how long it takes to show up on my reports. Four hours, if anyone's interested. Not exactly 'real time', but certainly not shabby either, if you consider that traditionally published authors are only informed of their sales bi-annually. ;)

While of course there can be issues like updating glitches, etc, I'm just saying that every time someone doesn't have their sales expectations met, it doesn't mean there have been sales and they're not being informed of them.

Which seems to be what most who post about their sales not being up to their personal snuff think each time a lack of sales happens.

It could actually be that there just weren't any sales for them during that period of time.

If you want to really see something about authors not being informed of sales, you should go check out this blog post: http://kriswrites.com/2011/04/20/the-business-rusch-royalty-statements-update/

In this case it would definitely be a glitch, but yes, there can be periods of slow or no sales.

Actually, I think Halcyonpress is right and that sales have not been reported in at least twelve hours. The reason why I'm saying this is that only a day or two ago, I would've needed to sell at least twice as many copies as were reported last night to even maintain my current rank. Even during a slow period, it's highly unlikely that half the sales would keep one on the same rank.

Yeah, sales reports are definitely not showing up. My number hasn't moved since 7 or so last night, but my ranking dropped much lower. As an obsessive numbers-checker, this is driving me nuts!

I can only answer for myself, but my reports have not changed since yesterday evening, and given the volume of books that I sell, that is a statistical improbability. It is more likely the system is down for updating or having a "moment."

I'm an obsessive numbers checker too :-) I've emailed KDP. Let's hope the right numbers will be updated soon.

Yes, the current sales report is definitely "hung". I check the sales stats throughout the day, and know about how many sales there should be based on the current rankings of my books, so it's not just a slow period... :)

Same here, no sales since some time late last night.

I've noticed extremely slow and then in the last 24 hours or so absolutely no sales since since a couple of days ago when the dashboard was gone altogether. I assumed it was maintenance.

I don't know what other people's daily average is, but if you're making quite a lot of daily sales and then suddenly see zero - it is a little strange.

I'm seeing this too, and the book rankings haven't changed either (I'd expect them to drop dramatically if my sales really had ground to a halt) Looks like a glitch to me.
