I live on the gulf coast of FL. I'm not a computer guru. I hunt and fish most of the time. I have completed a novel called "Dried Beef".
I plan on publishing on Kindle in the next few weeks.
Do I need a ISBN number? I have also looked at createspace.
If I'm on KIndle How much will it cost for POD on createspace.

Thanks ,

Robert Martin

Thanks for the link.
My best-selling ebook is aimed at people who have just bought a new puppy home. B004MDLT7Y.
Their first problem is how to stop the puppy doing what comes naturally - right there on the carpet.
Q Any suggestions for a follow-up book? Thanks for all suggestions.

Robert,

You don't need an ISBN to publish for Kindle - Amazon will assign you a number to track sales, etc. You might want an ISBN though because my understanding is a library won't take a book without an ISBN. Neither will bookstores, though that's obviously not relevant if you are only publishing an e-book. I also seem to recall something about needing the ISBN if you want to make sample pages of your book available to Amazon readers, but you may want to check the Kindle help on that.

ISBNs are $125 for 1 or $250 for 10. Also, you need a different ISBN for each version of your book -- one for the Kindle, one for a print book, etc. If you Google ISBN you'll find Bowker, which sells ISBNs for the government. Not the most user friendly website but it does have a lot of info.

Good luck!

Interesting point about the ISBN numbers. My book BEYOND BELIEF was first released in paperback in Australia via Fontaine Press. It has a National Library of Australia ISBN number. This exact same number is used on the paperback POD version on Amazon, but the Kindle version has a different number. If you're doing a POD paperback version of your book I'd think you need an independent ISBN number so that bookshops and libraries can handle it. I'm not 100% certain about all the above but this is the way it looks to me.

What about publishing with createspace? My plan is to publish with kindle and then print books with createspace. Ihis online publishing is blowing my mind. Can I publish on kindle and then re-edit the ms?
What about the cover page. Can I change that.
Also what about printing in diferent languages? This is my first rodeo with this process. I met with a graphic designer yesterday and they want an arm and a leg to design my art work. The girls mother is an editor so she said and she charges $500.oo to edit. This is driving me in sane.
Can someone help.

Thanks ,
