Hi all

Kindly give me pointers as I am struggling to have book sales. I don't have a marketing budget, I am totally relying on free marketing tools.

Check out my author page: Tebogo Maimane

Thanks in advance for your input.

I 'looked inside' at your book 'Deception of the Eye'. From an American perspective here are some reasons your books may not be selling in USA.

1. Novellas do not sell well, especially in your genre

2. Inspirational does not sell well either, although there can be and have been notable exceptions.

3. Your grammar, syntax, and sentence construction is that of a non-native English speaker. To an American, the wording reads like a book from the 18th or 19th century. It is difficult to read and follow the logic of what you are trying to say. Not that anything about it is incorrect, but American readers are accustomed to modern-day syntax and sentence construction laced with idioms, colloquialisms, and jargon. They tire easily when presented with difficult reading. Your book is difficult to read.

This is of course, an American opinion. In South Africa, the market might be completely different.

Might be easier if we had a direct link; or maybe I've missed something . . . .

You can easily find the author by copying and pasting in the name in the search box. I thought the writing was ok, definitely had some non-native elements but wasn't a turnoff. The biggest issue I saw was the first part of the story about the kid was in all tell mode rather than being in the kid's POV and seeing through his eyes what was happening. The story would be more captivating if we were the kid.

Hello.
I was also told my English was really bad. I have since moved on to keep on writing as many books as I want. I write short stories where people also were stating that people would not read at all. What I learned is that being involved in social networking sites helps a lot for exposure.
Writing comments on different message boards is really a great exposure. Make sure your public profiles have links to your work so that people can learn more about you the author of your books. This public profiles serve very well as business cards.
Just get involved out there online. There are so many ways people can learn more about you the writer. In return they will find links to your work on your profiles and you will be found. Search engines will have comments you make public and anyone wanting to learn more about your work will pop up as well. Just get involve. Don't be afraid of exposure. Great success to you.

You know, if you were selling these short stories, I might be inclined to believe you know what you're talking about, but I've seen your rankings and they are not indicative at all that you know what you're doing. Sorry if I'm coming across as harsh, but you are advising people to do the same things as you, as if you have a working plan, and you don't.

What I learned is that being involved in social networking sites helps a lot for exposure.

This is such bad advice, and you keep giving it. If this is so effective, how come you aren't selling books? I'll tell you why: spamming every forum you can find doesn't help sell books. I don't care how much you want it to be so, it just doesn't. It irritates people, and then they don't buy your books.
