I normally write short stories, but just finished up a story that's sitting at 52,000 words (ready to publish). I was wondering if anyone out there had suggestions on a decent price point? I know that it's different strokes for different folks, but I'm interested in the average price that you've had success with. Thanks.

E-book, first novel, unknown author, $2.99 or $3.99, 70% option (assuming no heavy illustrations).

Be sure to add a section for "Also by the Author" or "More by the Author".

And then go back to your individual titles and add the novel to their "Also by the Author" sections.

Best of luck.

I also suggest checking what other books in your specific genre are selling for. If you do a search on that genre and find that a number of books of that length are selling for a certain price, you might want to go a dollar or so below that. Being a little cheaper helps a first time author (at least for that length) get sales.

However, you want to be careful you don't price it too low. Below $2.99 and you only get 35%. Also, if it is too low priced, people tend to think it isn't worth anything.

It's a delicate balance. Just remember, you can always change the price if you find it isn't working for you, though it is always easier to lower your price than to raise it.

Good luck!
