Email request for tax info...legit?

Found an email in my inbox a few days ago from finopstax@amazon.com labeled "INFORMATION REQUESTED: Singapore Tax Information for Kindle India (IN) Marketplace". I haven't opened it yet, but there's an attachment icon so I know something's in there. I thought I'd given both CreateSpace and Amazon all my tax info already, and all other emails I've gotten regarding my book have been from accounts identifying themselves as "Createspace Account Serv." or "Kindle Direct Publishing", not "FinOpsTax". Basically, I'm wondering if this is a legit email or some spambot/virus that looked me up through my accounts. I'm not about to open it, much less send them anything, unless I'm sure this is on the up-and-up.

NO WAY would I open that. I'd go back to the site(s) directly, from a known www URL, and see if all looked good from that end. You might also find a spot there to do a "Contact Us" and ask if they've sent an e-mail. AND, I have never gotten an e-mail from KDP with an attachment.

No matter how legit a request might look, the only way to provide information is by logging into your account and providing it there. Never send anything by email.

i think it might be legit as it has an @amazon.com email address. That said I didn't open the attachment and I just deleted it as I don't see my sales skyrocketing in Singapore anytime soon and I'll just eat the withholding and not sweat it. That said I am gonna scan w anti-virus nonetheless just to be safe.

Email addresses are easy to spoof. Never assume an email is legit because the domain extension looks right.

True there.
Have many people gotten this email? Where would they have gotten mine from?
