Hello,

I have published my ebook on Kindle (and opted for Kidnle Select program). Now I am keen to publish a paperback. While going through the option of publishing it through Kindle, I found out that the said option is not available for India yet.
Now my question is can I publish my paperback on Pothi.com for the Indian market and on Kindle for rest of the countries?
If so, then can I use the ISBN I have obtained from Raja Rammohun Roy national agency for ISBN for both the versions i.e. Pothi & Kindle (only for paperback) or Do I need to have separate ISBN (assigned by Kindle) for rest of the countries?

Thank you.

You're allowed to publish a paperback anywhere. However, I'm quite sure that each published version must have its own ISBN.

Use your Indian ISBN for the Pothi edition. Use the ISBN Amazon assigns you for the KDP edition. No problem with having both versions of the book available.

Pothi is not a supported language, so you can't publish that book through the KDP.

My paperbacks (distributed through CreateSpace) are available on the IN store, but of course they are awfully expensive by Indian standards. Rupees 691 for a 200-page book. I don't think KDP Print books do appear in the IN store, at any price. (I checked an author whom I know publishes through KDP Print, and his paperbacks aren't there.)

Some Indian authors print their books locally, but then of course you have the problem of getting it on the Amazon store.

Do people in India actually shop much at Amazon? I know that in China it has only about 1 percent of the online markets. There are bigger and better local rivals.

Good luck! -- NJ
