You don't seem to have a very good server if you can't track visitors regardless of what browser is being used.

Donald,

You're right about that and I don't understand it. Somehow the real problem seems to be with BlogSpot. If I use Internet Explorer no page-views show. If I switch to Chrome, voila, there they are...makes no sense.

As for changing the "No comments," I'm trying but have been unable to do so yet.

When I do editing of my posts, a box for comments comes up and when I edit and mark it saved, it doesn't work. So, I'll keep trying. At least I finally have pictures up on several of the posts. One of my favorites is with "Alf" Wight (pen name-James Herriott). We met him at his veterinary surgery in Thirsk, north of York near the Yorkshire moors. The report is he sold 50-million books before his death and they're still selling.

Do you have any suggestions for a possible change from BlogSpot? At least it's free. :-)

Thanks for your input,

J.R.

Mary,

Thanks. I write on a wide range of subjects that happen to strike my fancy. I guess I should probably have some kind of theme, but I wouldn't have as much fun. Since my sixteen books are also far-ranging, it fits, at least a little bit.

If I had more computer savvy I'd be better off. Oh, well...you shouldn't expect too much technical expertise from an old codger. ;-)

I usually don't go over a month without blogging.

acornwriter.

That seems like quite a gap since there is so much advice given about frequency. I try to do a new one per week.

However, what works for you is the important thing and if your system shows measurable results, more power to you.

Thanks for your comments,

Pardon me if I issue a heartfelt **WHEW!!!**

There were several excellent replies and they spurred me on to do some things I previously had been unable to do. I'm not quite sure I could help anyone else having some of the same problems but through sheer determination I figured things out.

My blog: http://bloggadocio-onairvet.blogspot.com/ now has not only all my Kindle books posted but there are pictures with several of the postings and, above all, a place for anyone to post a comment.....finally!!!

Thanks to everyone for all the thoughts and suggestions. Following up wore me down to a nub but just for the time being. The successes rejuvenated me and my latest blog about a meeting/interview with Alex Trebek of "Jeopardy" renown is in place.

One final question: There were suggestions about more than one blog to help expand our literary horizons. As I mentioned in other postings, I use Blogspot. Any suggestions for any other I should try? I'll appreciate your knowledge of same.

That seems to be an issue on your end. I use IE myself, and the page-views come up without issue.

Aaron,

It seems the problem may be with blogspot rather than either IE or Chrome. Of course, with page-views showing on one and not the other seems to have no rational explanation.

I am going to try some other blogs, hoping those of you on the forum have suggestions for which one(s) seem to be better.

JR - Try Wordpress - blogs there are free. I have two Wordpress blogs but don't post regularly to them; at this time anyway.

Shari,

Thanks. I'll give it a try...interesting that you can have more then one. I like that idea and also the part about being "free"...can't beat the price. ;-)

As for your not posting regularly...not much use having two of them if you don't keep them active. Hey, what's your excuse? :-) Try mine at http://bloggadocio-onairvet.blogspot.com/

Any other blog site suggestions from anyone?

I have three Wordpress blogs and they are awesome. Their stat pages are detailed. I pay nothing for them. I wish I could explain search optimization in a few sentences. It's mind-blowing how closely linked (literally) Wordpress is with Amazon. Technology enables us to have a little store (Author Central) and a media station (Wordpress) where we can have our own "show" and telecast it out to the world (Google). An amazing opportunity. Too bad it's so hard to raise the numbers in my bank account.

My father used to say, "Never pray for money. Just pray that your needs are met."
OK Pop. But to meet needs, most of us need money. Can I pray for numbers? If so, I'd like to add a few to my bank balance. :-)

Not nearly often enough. I have trouble coming up with worthwhile things to say that are not already somewhere inside my stories. Sharing my naive fascination with nature and animals on a weekly basis seems silly, while philosophical musings are boring to everyone. So I condense a few months' worth of experience and post infrequently. Since my blog is not about writing and my books are not about animals or veterinary medicine, blog traffic neither helps nor hurts my sales. I get a good idea of how many blog visitors come to or from my Amazon author page, and I can see that blog visits do not correlate at all with book sales. http://animaldoc-transitions.blogspot.ca/

Blogspot is also free. (Sorry, I don't know about Blogger.)

I use BlogSpot myself, and I can easily see all the page views. So, as I said before, the problem is likely on your end with IE (especially since you can see it with other browsers).

Digging up a load of old posts just to promote your books is a bad idea.
