How do you format numbered lists in Word so they wrap correctly?

I am trying to publish my first eBook on KDP. I do not have in-depth technical knowledge. For example, most of the details in Amazon Kindle Publishing Guidelines are meaningless to me. My book content is in MS Word that was saved as “Web Page, Filtered” (.htm). When I upload the .htm file, the wrapping of my numbered lists is way off. The wrapping looks OK in the original htm file, but after converting to Kindle’s format, they are a mess when previewed in the various reading devises.

Is there anything I can do to reformat these lists in Word so that they look decent after uploading?

Thanks!

I'm one of those that does not do the HTML 'stuff'. I just upload in/with Word only to Kindle and have no problems.

Have you already tried uploading the word doc file itself instead of converting it to filtered html? How does that view? I routinely use both ordered and unordered lists in the html books I write. I do not have any text wrapping issues when I use lists. Clearly word is inserting some incorrect code or perhaps you are not formatting the lists correctly in word.

Thanks for the tips. I found that many of the formatting issues solve themselves by uploading directly in Word. But some issues remain. I will create a more specific post on those.
