No Look Inside on a newly published e-book? That's really weird.

I've checked a few of my titles. All seem to show about 10 percent of the book on Look Inside.

A majority of my books open at the cover. A significant minority open at page one, chapter one. At first, the latter annoyingly skipped the chapter title. I found that the difference between the two was that I had set a SRL at chapter one in the ones that opened there. (I did that because for a long time, Go To Beginning took me to the middle of the TOC!) I took out the SRL and uploaded them again.

Most now open at the cover, which I far prefer. At least one though still opens at chapter one -- but it now shows the title, so that's progress!

I must have checked the Look Inside on these books scores of times since New Style (opens at chapter one) came to live with us. The opening has never changed. It's either permanently on the cover or permanently on chapter one.

Good luck! -- NJ

It took 4 days to show up, but the damage was done. My launch day sales took a hit compared to book #1 in the series, which had the LI available as soon as it was published.

For what it's worth, maybe nothing, I read somewhere that the Lk Ins program is ran by an entity other than zon and is another process, separate from the publishing.

I also read somewhere to 'sign up for the LI program.' I'm glad we don't have to do that.

Note to anyone planning a big launch event: For the second time, I had a new title go live without a Look Inside. The last one took just over 4 days to show up. I guess this is the "new normal" now.

The LI on my last published book was Published on Feb 15, LI appears Feb 21 or 22. Strangely, I could read the LI on my android phone days ago.

Was that a print editon? I've seen print books that show the Look Inside from the e-book. Evidently there was a problem getting the PDFs from the printer, even when the publisher was Amazon (both KDP Print Beta and CreateSpace). Took several days to sort itself out, as I recall.

I think it's probably a case of the many arms of the Zon not talking to each other (to mix metaphors), or even knowing that the others exist.

Edit: @NotJohn, mine were e-books. I haven't done a paperback in quite some time.

No. I've never made a print edition of any book.

My lone little book is available in print and digital. Digital LI shows too much - but the Print LI shows even more. Disappointed with this. Is there a way to opt out of Look Inside (LI)???

BTW, I never use that LI feature when I purchase a book on Amazon - Never! I read the blurb, about the Author and really weigh the negative and positive reviews.

You can contact customer service and ask them to lower it to 10% OR to remove it.

This is a strange thread to me. On some of my books the LI isn't even 10%. They mostly tend to be short so sometimes I put an "excerpt" of something I feel may be an eye catcher under chap 1.

The only book I published as a paperback on here shows just 6 pages of 238, yet the ebook shows the 10%.
