Uptill 14th of april I could upload and preview my poetry book in hindi but since the 15th, selecting Hindi(beta) as your language and uploading anything at all gives an error.
I kept cleaning, reformatting my file to no avail.
I contacted Amazon they gave me a meaningess reply saying my book is in Sanskrit which is not supported! My book is in hindi, as normal hindi as any hindi book already on amazon store. THeir reply just shows they have no idea what they are supporting.

My file shows up clean on the offline previewer too but fails conversion on the KDP page.

So, to test out the KDP page, Today I tried to upload a file with just one word and a pagebreak and even that failed conversion. Then I uploaded a blank file and even that failed conversion.
I uploaded the same file after selecting my language as English and it got converted and could be previewed.

The Hindi conversion process is broken, IMO, since the 15th making it impossible to publish a book anymore.

Can someone here try it out with any file and confirm? I will contact Amazon with this issue again s soon as I am sure it is an issue for all.

Now you can publish books in five Indian languages on KDP

That's the title of an article in the KIndle Direct Publishing Newsletter, which arrived in my email yesterday. Perhaps there is some change to the procedure, maybe you need to choose which of the five languages or something like that. I just looked at the language choices on the Book Details page and it does say (Beta) after each of the five languages. Beta programs often have some problems.

I overlooked the fact that you had mentioned (Beta) in your heading. Just ignore that part of my post. Thanks.

Mr. Singh, you say "until April 14." Did you actually upload and publish a Hindi-language book before that? Would you give us the ASIN?

This is very encouraging news, despite the problem you have now encountered. I'm sure it will work out. Have you tried sending an excerpt from your book to Support to demonstrate the language?

Thank you!

You should remove your email from youR post. These are public forums, meaning anyone in the world can read them.

Also, I'm just a writer; I don't know any details about the Hindi beta program, I just saw it mentioned in the monthly newsletter KDP emails to us. Here's the link to the KDP Announcement about it:

Given that Mr Singh hasn't replied in four days, perhaps he is one of those drive-by shooters who leave us wondering what really happened.
