Writers are readers too.Writers want to read the digital version of theirs books and verify the customer is getting the best.
But I can't say everything is fine with Whispersync because Whispersync isn't delivering the latest versions of my books to Amazon customers ,my readers .
I am not the only damaged in this but also the huge flocks of my potential readers that will never have the right book version but one old and uncompleted.
I know that Amazon is very sensible about clients satisfaction and I am sure they will not disregard this problem.
It is about two books:
Spooky Spoke by Fernando Firstater
And
Las memorias de Z by Fernando Firstater
Whose actualisations are lagging behind somewhere in cyberspace.

This very evening I got the response to my application to the Kindle reader app support team with the actualisations of my two books and I have to believe in the work of this great enterprise.
But I'm not going to delete my complaint( The readers viewpoint) because was a good text product of my anger and despair now relieved by this happy end.

Firstater,
Your message to Amazon is indeed a little confusing, and I can understand their need for more/accurate information so they can best assist you and not give you the wrong information.

What I think you mean is that you downloaded a version of your book a while ago, and would now want to know how to get the most recent version on your reading app?

If this is the case;
Go to your Amazon account.
Then click on 'Manage your Content and Devices'
There you'll see the list of books your have downloaded.
On the righthand side of the book you want to update should be; 'Update Available', if that book does have a newer version.

Elodie,I never saw the Update Available flag you mention but now that you tell me about it is more possible for me to see it in the page.If you know what I mean.
There are things you see and I want to see them too.

If you can't see the update next to the book you want to update, that means that Amazon doesn't know there is an update available.
I am still assuming you are talking about your own book, if so, send the following message to Amazon with the Contact Us at the bottom of this page:

Hello,

I have made significant changes to my book (insert title + ASIN).
Can you please push an update through?

Thank you.

After you have send this message, wait for their reply, and then check the method I told you about again.
BUT - it is very important that you tell them the ASIN for them to find the right book!

You said previously you didn't know what an ASIN is; you can find it on your bookshelf.
Every book has an ASIN underneath the price and the 'view on Amazon' drop down.

Elodie, I can't share your optimistic set of mind about Amazon performances.
I recognise the whole thing is admirable but it doesn't make me blind to the defects .
You may have got money, your royalties but not me .They keep rising the sum to be distributed between the rightholders but I didn't receive a penny for my books

I will try the manual procedure you describe for the updates and royalties.

I'm not as optimistic about Amazon as you think.
I know there are ways -many ways- things could improve.

What I am optimistic about, is that without KDP, I wouldn't be published.
I'm here for the love of writing, as opposed to the royalties earned.
I could make a lot of money if I follow the tactic of 'Writing to the Market', but I don't want that. I write because I enjoy it.

Today's download of La historia de Spuki gave an overlapped two in one with the last cover for one old file.
Luckily I have the document stored in a safe cloud.

I too appreciate KDP because without it I should have remained unknown and unpublished.

For the Kindle reading app I imagine scores of developers putting up more updates bringing relax and peace of mind to the readers.

You make me happy making me know that we are friends in this Forum.Good bye Elodie.

In the end, yesterday evening ,I saw the Kindle ebook delivered by Whispersync to me.
The people of the support chat room sent it.
I guess they are trying to be essential, indispensable to running the business and keep the employ.

Reading the thread I see how bad is my English and can imagine the effect caused to the ears of people.

I can understand that but I have no choice and yesterday I sent a PDF of Spooky Spoke to a group of Hebrew to English translators proposing them to put the book into Hebrew because this is the audience I wanted to reach from the beginning.

Yesterday I forgot to say them that I am ready to reduce the length of the book from 80 to 50 or 40 pages if it's necessary.
Elodie I'm telling you this here but I'm not initiating a public thread on this personal story.

Today, tomorrow and after tomorrow La historia de Spuki is in free download and I will never know how many copies have been sold for free and whose those people were.
Kindle can improve by adding this functionality in our dashboard,I think.

If you're talking about a book you wrote, you must email Support (using the Contact Us option bottom of this page) and ask them to "push" the new version to your KIndle archives.

Elodie, are you being serious or you doing into auto irony as I do.
If you follow my ways it will be difficult to make the part of truth and lies.
You want to live from your pen, isn't.Why do you say you don't care about the reception of your books and the readers feelings?
I do not want to start a new discussion but I did notice your new declaration about the driving reasons for you to be here and I must welcome that.

She cares about the writing, not the money she MIGHT get from it. Most authors never make money on their books. They write for the love of creating an amazing story.
Other writers try to make fast money, but do not care about the story. They always fail.
90% of author NEVER make money, and that is why they MUST HAVE another job to pay the bills. Except for a few (that lucky/hardworking/smart/connected 10%), there is no future in writing.
So why would they do it anyway?
The stories, the creations, mean more than any royalty.
