Hi everybody,

I run The Wishing Shelf Book Awards in the UK. We recently had an author request entering this year's award with a book called Dragonsoul. But I seem to remember it was involved in a click farming scam. In fact, I think I read it on this forum. We are rather picky as to which books we allow to enter the awards but I just wanted to check first that this was the book involved. Also, was it proven that the author worked with a click farm or was it simply gossip? The Young Adult Reading Group we work with love books on dragons, but I don't want to encourage this sort of activity.

Thanks,

Edward

Hi,

Don't worry. I discovered the old thread on this subject; I also discovered the article regarding this book and click farming. It seems it went from a 300,000-odd ranking to number 1 basically in 24 hours! I guess click farming was involved. What a crazy world we live in. :(

Thanks anyway, Edward

Thanks for checking. It's nice to know people watch out for this kind of thing and just say 'no'.

This is indeed startling. I was under the impression the contest was open to anyone with £39.
