I’m preparing a Word file for a paper-version book for CreateSpace, using a 6 x 9 inch page size (before conversion to a pdf). I’ve received very useful info from this forum already on formatting content, and I have chosen 2 cm for top, bottom and outer margins and 2.54 cm for the inner margin (i.e., the gutter), and I am using mirror margins. When I view consecutive pages on the computer screen, odd-numbered pages (which will become recto pages) and even-numbered pages (which will become verso pages) have different-looking margins - differing in width, I mean - in spite of my having keyed in 2 cm for the outer margin for the whole document. Does this matter? Or do I have to correct it somehow? Advice much appreciated!

To truly see what you're book will look like in print, create a PDF and open that in Adobe Reader (free). Select View > Page Display > Two Page Scrolling and make sure that View > Page Display > Show Cover Page in Two Page View is selected. This will show your title page on the right, by itself, and the rest of your pages in proper reader's spreads (which MS Word doesn't really do well).
