I understand that KDP is in process of absorbing Createspace. It doesn't seem to make sense to publish print books through Createspace at this point and I wonder if KDP plans to allow authors to print books now or in the future. if not, how are authors managing the printed version of their book?

If they've been absorbing CreateSpace, they're doing it at a glacial place. KDP Print Beta has been in beta almost a year now and is still having problems. Most of us ignore KDP Print Beta and go right back to CreateSpace.

Well, you "understand" more than others know. Crystal gazing?

There has been no announcement from either company or Amazon to that effect, only rumors from various users of both sites. Until such time as there is some official word, I choose to stick with the more established company, with more offerings: CreateSpace.

If only that were true! I suspect we are a minority. Just as people plunge into ebook publishing before knowing the first thing about ebooks (or indeed about writing a book!), so do they see the sucker invitation on KDP to, hey, throw a Word doc at us and we'll publish you in a handsome paperback! They investigate nothing.

Good luck! -- NJ

At this point Createspace offers more, if at some later date that changes books can be moved to KDP at that point. I don’t see the sense of using an inferior system now because of what might happen someday (and as others have said it’s only a rumor that Createspace will be “absorbed”).
