KENP question: how many individual readers

When I look at the KENP report for a single work, there are five bars on the bar graph. Some of these bars show pages read twice as many as are in the book. Does this mean one reader read it twice? Does each bar represent a different reader? Is there any way to know how many different readers have downloaded the title?

To my knowledge, there is no way of telling how many people are reading your book. (I'm sure someone will correct me if there is.) If you have 100 pages read, that could be 1 person reading all 100 pages, or 100 people reading 1 page each. However, the pages are only counted the first time they are read, so if you have exceeded the number of pages in your book, then you can assume that you have at least two readers out there. I'm not sure what you mean by '5 bars' on your graph. The graphs show pages read vertically and the dates horizontally. Do you mean the horizontal bars that represent the pages read - 100, 200, 300 etc? They're simply there as a guideline, and are variable if your numbers go higher. (1000, 2000, 3000 etc) Hope that helps. J

You don;t know how many individual readers contribute to the pages read of how much of the book they read. But you only get paid once for each reader--if they read that page once of 100 times it counts as one page.

Dates along the bottom, pages read up the side -- people don't enter into it at all. If you have five bars showing on your graph, then you have only five days (out of thirty, if you're at default) in which anyone was reading, and the bars merely show the number of pages read. The increments up the side give you a general idea; click any particular bar for the exact total. Use month-to-date for KENP read per title, the Previous Months tab for monthly totals by store. There's no way of knowing how many people have borrowed your book or are reading at any one time; one person may borrow it and start reading right away, while another might borrow it and not start reading, a few pages a day, until weeks later.

The Reports tab has much more information available than previously. It's a good idea to spend some time learning its capabilities, its limitations, and how best to apply that information to hour marketing strategies.

There is no way of telling, this is why click farms are so successful at scamming from the KU pot!
