I have had a kindle book listed, it went through KDP and has been on Amazon for quite some time, but haven't thought much about it. In that time I have forgotten my account. I need to reconstruct my account and access the information there.

Try logging in with your Amazon customer account information.
If you find an "empty" KDP dashboard/bookshelf, then you used a different email and password to set up your KDP account.

If you can remember the email you used, try the "forgot password" link to change your password (I think that's an option).

If that doesn't work, you'll need to use the "Contact Us" link at the bottom of this page to ask for a KDP rep's help.

My freind had access to his kindel direct publishing account with a password
for at least three months, but recently access to his account was
banned on the grounds that the password is incorrect. He then asked to
change his password. Amazon has sent him a link to enter the new
password. He then introduced a new password. Amazon confirms that the
new password is up and running, but when he tried to access his account on
direct publication kinder, a message tells him that the password is
incorrect. He repeated the operation several times, but the problem
persists and he can not access his account for about 10 days or more. He
have contacted Amazon several times but no response. And this
happens exactly when he have to receive his payment regarding the sale
of kindle books.
It seems that there is an incomprehensible logic in the way Amazon
treats those who cooperate with it. The "contact us" option doesnt
work. No response to requests for help. You can not access your
account, and you can not get help to restore your password. It is
incomprehensible and inadmissible.
I wonder if amazone scam people by forbidding them access to their account and to their payment.

And if you have a new question, post a new thread! Don't drag up old threads.

Why isn't your friend asking instead of you?

No, Amazon does not scam people by keeping their payment from them. Even if someone has forgotten their password, they'll still get paid.

The only way to straighten this out is through the Contact link at lower right. Since you seem to have a working account, use that. They will answer. Be clear and polite, and keep replying to the email you get, rather than starting over.
