if so, how about filling us in on results. Is it really worth a try or just a waste of time and perhaps a few bucks.

Is it a possible way out of the KDP swamp?

I have found improvements with sales using 0.02 keyword bids (sponsored ads) WHEN the darn Zon system is working.
It is about impossible for me to even read posts here as the system seems locked up for me.

Search for "ams advertising"--there are hundreds of threads with detailed information.

The short version: For me, it was effective until August 1, after which I ran into weird glitches and I paused all my campaigns. I'm restarting them now, but it's too early to tell.

I've only been doing them for a couple of weeks, and not taking into account KU page reads, I'm averaging about a 75% return. So with page reads, I'm probably making money with AMS, just not a great deal of it.

I tried it for three of my books. I covered my cost on sales. What little profit I gained came from KDP reads.

My series was released in early August and I've tried AMS advertising on a limited scale but have seen no results so far. Lots of impressions but very few clicks, but I'm hoping things will improve.

Do you mean that your ACoS is 25%? If so, that's pretty good. There was a time when I could keep all my campaigns in the 10%-15% ACoS range, but those days are long gone.

At the moment I am running just one add. In 4 months I worked my way up from 10 cents to 45 cents. But I'm not getting page views and clicks. Today I totaled 700 views and just one click in seven days. Should I raise the stakes to 0.50 cents? Or should I wait.

As long as you're getting views, your bid is fine. I think you should drop it back to .20 and see if you're still getting impressions. That you're only getting one click for 700 views means your ad pitch isn't working.

If you're getting plenty of clicks but no sales, then it means your blurb or Look Inside isn't working. But from what you've said, I think it's your ad pitch--your ad's text.

Do realize that if you're getting few clicks, you're also getting few charges against your account. You can always put up another ad or two with alternate texts. Running multiple ads for the same title is permitted. Note: I would NOT terminate an old ad (if that's what you want to do) until the new one is approved and running.

I swear the programmer who wrote the code for the text box put in logic to randomly drop the "r" off the end of a "your" now and then. >:(

Same programmer who causes the final t of thought to be automatically dropped two out of three times. B

The ads work for me, but it took a lot of trial and error to get them worded right. B

Is it just me, or are a lot of old forum threads being resurrected, all with the post dates changed to September 13?

I had not noticed. There have been some newcomers who actually did do searches on the forums for appropriate threads and tacked on to the ends of them, not knowing that for current issues it's better to start new threads.

Thanks Joseph for the advice. Actually I am testing the adds. This particular book would get a click for 450 impressions when I started off with $0.45 cents. It would start off slow and would soon be running with several thousand impressions and 10 - 15 clicks. I would lose money so I would scale down my bid to slow the adds. Several times in this forum people have advised to start low so I did just that. I started low and slowly within a span of 4 months worked my way up to 45 cents. But my impressions and clicks aren't running like they would have if I had gone directly to the 45 cents option straight. Anyway thanks for your advice. It gave me ideas.

This seems to be different: an old thread where all the post dates have been changed, not just a new reply tacked on at the end. Probably just me, though...

I have seen ad campaigns actually stall , and these were campaigns that used to rack up impressions pretty well. Then, a couple of weeks go by and they start working again.

On rare occasions a new campaign will not ever take off, no matter how high you set the bid. The conjecture here is that the campaign did not successfully filter through to all the Zon servers. The only thing to do there is to Copy the campaign (change at least the campaign name), and get the copy up and running. At that point, you can terminate the original version.
