Kindle book description edits - AC or KDP Bookshelf?

I normally do my description edits in my AC book page and it goes live pretty quickly. Lately, tech support has been working behind the scenes to get my outdated series description to match the updated one from Book 1 on my sales page. It's been a headache and my sales page suddenly reverted back to an extremely outdated version. I got it fixed via my AC page but noticed I'd never updated my KDP book page description. I tried to add the HTML from the AC page to the KDP page but it woudn't take. I finally just pasted a plain text version into the KDP page.

Now my sales page is only showing the plain text version. I submitted an HTML update through the AC page but it hasn't shown up yet.

It's really annoying to have two separate options for that. Does anyone know if AC takes precedence over the KDP bookshelf page? I have a promo running next week and want to make sure it's sorted out by then.

I think the most recent one takes precedence, so republish from Author Central after you have republished on the KDP.

If you make changes in Author Central, then republish later, whatever you originally put in your metadata will take precedence.

That's how I understand things, and that's why, even if it's a bit slow, I prefer to make changes via the metadata. Reduces the chances for confusion.

Thanks! It seemed to work from the AC update. It just took longer than expected.

I used to make changes to the des*cription from AC until I learned (the hard way) that any subsequent changes made from the KDP Bookshelf, even price changes, will result in the old des*cription wiping out the "new" one.

I don't bother with AC now, at least for des*criptions.
