I at last received a royalty payment by check for $4.19 for an ebook. That leaves $17 and odd cents that is owed. I thought that royalties would be wired to my bank account? Please advise.

Thank you,

Hi Betsy,

That's very strange, as normally you don't get check payments until they've tipped over the 100 dollar mark. I'd suggest that you make sure that A'zon has your correct bank details as a first step.

With regard to the other $17, would the sales have come in the following calendar month? Don't forget that you get paid a month at a time, and always 60 days after that month has finished. (So, for example, you'll get your September royalties/kenp at the end of November.)

Hope that helps. J

If that's a legitimate KDP check for royalties, I'd take a picture of it. What you've got is rarer than hens' hind molars.

Thought: Could these be carryover royalties from last year? Sometimes a check might be issued to keep carryover royalties from crossing two tax accounting periods.

If you are going to get payments by Check from Amazon as a Writer, then everything goes wrong. It is either the Check take a very long time to be made (a $100 threshold applies) or it does not arrive at your home address at all. This gets scary if your country is not listed by Amazon to receive direct deposits.

The solution is to get a form of a US bank account from a company called Payoneer which will enable you to be get paid electronically by Amazon and any US company. The payment takes 2 days to arrive and it is free. You get your money without any complication and can withdraw via any MasterCard ATM in your country. You can also use the card given by Payoneer to buy things online. This is what many people from countries whose banks can not receive direct deposits from Amazon are using, including my humble self.

I wrote a free guide on how you can go about getting set up your US acct correctly via Payoneer. Get the guide free by right had clicking on the link below and selecting save as. Then saving to your PC.

Do this now and be free to get your payments securely from Amazon. I learned Amazon is phasing out check payment by end of this year.

Cheers.
