Cover Creator creates cover that is invalid size

Trying to put cover on my paperback, and created my own PDF but it would never, NEVER work no matter how I futzed with the size. I began to doubt math.

I gave up and decided I'd use Cover Creator. It seemed to be working. Saved the file without errors.

Loading the Previewer and it ran for 20 minutes or so every time (X5 so far). Each time it said the file was too big even though I used Cover Creator to shrink it down to the point there was space all around the image inside the dotted red lines. The weirdest thing is that when reviewing the error, it totally was outside the red lines that it was INSIDE on Cover Creator.

On a whim, I clicked the 'Bleed' setting ON, and didn't change anything else. The only image I have in the book is the cover. This time, all of a sudden there were 452 errors in the book. Yikes.

Why does Cover Creator create covers, without throwing an error, that Amazon refuses to pass?

I have run it moving the image around, shrinking it, I'm just lost.

Ideas?

thanks for your attention to this,
mark

Are you using the (1) beta paperback program on the Kindle site, or (2) are you trying to do it at CreateSpace for paperbacks?

Use CreateSpace, the Amazon division that does this smoothly, and where the community is very knowledgeable.

(Don't trust KDP to publish a print edition. Don't trust CreateSpace to publish an ebook.)

Good luck! -- NJ
