Customer Service isn't answering my emails. It's been a whole week.

Hey all!

I'd like to opt out of KDP Select. I really want to submit my book to Instafreebie and so far, the Amazon exclusivity is killing me.

I've been sending KDP emails about several issues I've been having with the site like the Look Inside Feature having never showed up and the fact that at this point in time, I feel disrespected and like I wasted a lot of time and money for nothing. I would really like to just opt out of the program without any further difficulty.

Is there any way this is possible if they don't answer my emails?

Tired of being ignored.

Go to your Bookshelf and to your book. Look to the far right where there is 3 dots. Click on it.
There is an option there for the Select program. Uncheck the area for renewing.
It should show a date that you will be out (after your 90 days from when you signed up have ended).

KDP has been going through some sort of upheaval starting in September and continuing still. It happens every year around this time; I'm not sure if they laid off a bunch of KDP reps or something, but they seem to be chronically understaffed. I've heard some folks here say that they've had more luck requesting a phone call through Author Central, but I've never tried it.

However, the response to your request to be let out of Select early is likely to be a resounding "No." You can cancel within the first 2-3 days but, after that, you're stuck.

Edit: When you say "customer service", you do mean KDP Support, right? Did you initiate contact using the Contact Us link at the bottom right of this page? E-mailing the general Ama*zon customer support folks will get you nowhere; they have no idea what KDP is.
