Y I am trying to figure out how to put my book on Kindle so I can get about 5,000 people to download it for free and I can get responses and advertising by people's reading my book. How in the world do I do that
If you join KDP Select, which requires that your ebook be available NO where else (click KDP Select at top of this page and read all about it), then you can give your book away for free for up to 5 days every 3 months.
But note that this is a very bad way to get reviews. A lot of people who download freebies never even read them, much less review them. Maybe 1 person in 500 who downloads a free book reviews it.
There are so many free books available that getting 5000 downloads is unlikely anyway. Most people get a few dozen downloads when they use their free days.
The best way to get reviews is to write a terrific book (good story, properly edited, great cover and description), in a genre readers want to buy. If readers love it, they'll say so.
I agree with the first reply here. Offering your book for free does not guarantee it will receive reviews. A well written book that accrues actual sales will increase its chance of receiving reviews, but there simply is no guarantee. Put it in KDP Select for the first three months and see if there is any interest in it to begin with. The people who pay for the service are, quite frankly, more likely to give a review than someone downloading it for free.
