Pre Order questions

So, I'm thinking about offering the second book in my series for pre order, to start getting some attention drummed up for it, and to begin advertising for it early. My question whether or not the time that the book is out for pre-order dig into the time that the book is shown on the New Releases lists.

The reason I am asking this question is that my first novel did fantastically well during it's New Release month; I got to a sales rank of 768, and hit number 1 in my genre of new releases, Swords and Sorcery, on the 22nd and 26th day, respectively, only to have it drop off of those lists at the end of its month. I would, of course, love to repeat that performance with my second novel.

So, if I release my novel with 7 days of pre-order, do I only get 23 days after launch on the New Releases list? I look forward to your answers!

Hi Brandon,

No you get the full 30 days, plus you get the 7 days in the Coming Soon category, which, if you're lucky, and in one of the smaller categories, might see you as one of a very small number and highly visible.

Hope that helps. J

Excellent! Thank you! I was toying with the idea of a pre-order, since I'll be done roughly 2 weeks ahead of schedule, and that was my major hold up!
