Is it possible to have a 2 for 1 sale of a Kindle book that I have already got up for sale?

No.

Unless you create a box set and set the price so that it's a bargain.

I am not sure I understand your response Diana Persaud. If I understand you correctly you are suggesting that I should bundle two uniquely separate books together as a box set and price them at a discount over buying each individually. What I am asking is whether I could price a single book at half the normal price for anyone buying two copies perhaps as gifts to be delivered to two different people? I am wondering if a person can buy a Kindle book and have it delivered to someone else's Kindle that is not attached in any way to the buyers account with Amazon. If it is possible it would seem it would be possible to have a two for one sale offering so people would be encouraged to buy multiple copies of a Kindle book. I know we can share kindle books with a certain nyumber of friends without purchasing additional copies. Outside that circle is what I am researching.

No, Amazon doesn't give you a method to bundle books at discounted prices, or offer coupons, or do 2-for-1 deals. The only way is to create the bundle yourself and price it accordingly, as Diana said.

Writerbn already answered you. The only thing I would add, is that if you were NOT in KDP Select, and on Smash words, then you could use a coupon. But then you would have to explain how to side load the file to customers.
