I did a search and found my ebooks along with many popular authors ( I am not one of the popular ones) on a site where a person can download the book for free. The site is called epub.pub

Can anyone tell me if this is common practice? And if there is a way to avoid it?

I write as a hobby and I have published ten romance novels and about 60 erotic short stories under pen names and I wondered if it was something I did when I converted my books to epub when considering publishing on different sites.

Thanks for any info. I'm more curious than anything...

There are sites that only want to download 'bad stuff' and others that are only collecting credit card numbers.
Don't worry about it/them as you will find yourself going in circles chasing them.
It was nothing you did. They do not have your book.

They do have my books and many more popular writers. I clicked on the download button and was able to download multiple books (mine and other authors works)

There is one author I read consistently, and they have over two dozen of her books you can download for free. The website is epub.pub

if you put that in the search just like that you can find many books to download free.

I'm of no significance, but of course, it's odd to go to a website and be able to read your book that someone else uploaded in epub format.

If you actually downloaded anything (many claim they do, but few are really so foolish), do run a security diagnostic on your computer and keep an eye on your accounts. Should you care to become a participant in the essentially fruitless whack-a-pirate game you can file DMCA forms everywhere. In the meantime, it might be instructive to search pirates and piracy on the main forum page to reads the (literally) thousands of other posts by people being ravaged by pirates.

It is a tab that says read on computer and it comes up in a window with the full book. My Mac and all my accounts are in lock down since I got hit with the Transunion, Experian, etc issue a few months back but thank you for your concern.

I was just curious, I have read many things on Forum regarding stealing books and read the responses but I never knew a person actually could read the epub version of a book for free. I only make a couple hundred dollars a month doing this so if someone is stealing so be it.

Thanks for responding!

Have a great night.
