Hello, world,

We are the writers of Soul Tracing - Taboo. Which just launched a few weeks ago and everything seems so confusing at the moment. We have no idea what this space is, we just clicked community and saw so many relatable posts about account issues etc. We found everything really useful thank you.

We have a question about advertising. we read that thread and are a little confused. Can someone who used Amazon advertising please give us a dumbed down step by step version of how you went about it? Thank you so much in advance.

We are also looking for reviewers who can send free copies of our book too and are willing to write honest feedback.

Please reach out if you're available.

Here's a useful blog post on promoting your book: https://insights.bookbub.com/marketing-a-new-book-tactics-authors-publishers-love

And one on getting the most out of your Amazon store listing: https://www.writtenwordmedia.com/2017/03/07/sell-more-books-on-amazon/

And a somewhat biased look at the whole process of self-publishing (you can ignore the BookBaby promotions): https://www.bookbaby.com/pages/pdf/5-Steps-To-Self-Publishing.pdf

(Don't trust KDP to publish a print edition. Don't trust CreateSpace to publish an ebook. Each does one thing well and the other thing poorly.)

Good luck! -- NJ

Replied, mod*ded, in spite of munging the URL to KDP's own site. Meanwhile, real spam continues to roll in. I give up.

I keep telling myself that although the *spam getting to us appears bad at times, we have no idea what they are catching and knocking down. I'm betting it is extensive per the night thousands came thru.

Welcome to KDP! Marketing your book is always the challenge. Look for and read the many many threads on it, because no one method works for everybody. Paid advertising only works well for some genres.

I'm afraid that the forum isn't the place to ask for reviews. If you post a link you'll probably get some critique of cover, blurb, and Look Inside, but most of us are too busy writing to do much reading. Good luck!

PS
If you ask for critique, be aware that it is unlikely to be warm & fuzzy. It will at least be honest.

At least it appears to be decently edited with a decent cover, though indents would be nice for the Look Inside to avoid that wall of text look it has right now.

Oh, I'm sure that what we see here is just the tip of the iceberg. It still doesn't excuse the lack of a simple captcha for account signups, or the useless "for*bidden word list" that traps genuine posts, though.

That's for sure. This has to be the worst forum software to handle spam that I've come across in my years of browsing.
