I think I found a new forbidden word. I was trying to respond to an innocuous thread and got modded. Let's try it.

unique

Nope, that wasn't it.

Maybe it was something in the OP's post that I quoted. One of the big drawbacks of the modding system is that apparently the first post in a new thread gets a pass. That's how the spam sneaks through.

Actually I think I figured it out. I think it was
cook-books
spelled without the hyphen. Just like audio books spelled as one word is forbidden.

The first post in a thread does get some leeway, but it's not fully immune to moderation. I tried creating a first-post loaded with forbid*den words once, as a test, and had my posting privileges removed for several days.

And yes, cook*books is a known secret word. :-/

The newest I have in my list are pes*tering and under*mine.

Those are new, indeed! Maybe because pes*tering the mods to develop a better spam-blocking system has under*mined their confidence in their abilities.

The ingenuity of humans. A simple * and the bots do not compute. Perhaps we should develop a hieroglyphic alphabet using only keyboard symbols.

My all-time favourite no-no word was 'character', which in a forum devoted to writing was hilarious.

I still get nervous about writing it before pressing send.

Here goes...

Perhaps we should develop a hieroglyphic alphabet using only keyboard symbols.

If you did, it wouldn't help. Sooner or later, some long-eared equine quadruped would get offended at something you wrote, and click the magic yellow triangle of death, injecting yet another spurious datapoint into the hapless, overloaded neural net.

The bots are only as good as their teachers. Their teachers, in this case, are people who click the yellow triangle.

I also can't seem to post a new thread about reporting a massive scam going on at amazon (fake books with fake reviews etc).

Does anyone know where can I find a list of 'forbidden' words?

Thank you.

Actually, I replied to your post about the futility of it, but what I wonder is why you're spamming the above message on every stray thread you can.

Mr. Reporter was talking about forbidden words and mentioned his other post only in passing, I believe. So perhaps "spam" was the wrong interpretation? But that's just my feeling. Cheers.

Well, your feeling would be wrong since he spammed the same message on a handful of unrelated posts.
