Three books of mine, published through Bookbaby, are listed on Amazon. Over the last 3 years, they acquired many positive reviews and 4+ ratings. I'd like to cancel Bookbaby distribution and republish all three books through KDP (I already have KDP account) - keeping all the customer reviews. How can I do that? Thanks!
You need a cover-your-ass e-mail from KDP before you proceed.
Here's what I'd do:
1) I'd select just one book to talk about, and do a Contact Us at the bottom right of this page.
2) In the message, tell them your situation vis-a-vis the book, that you're regaining publication rights and you don't want to lose the reviews.
3) Ask THEM what the proper procedure is.
Note that you may get an e-mail that is not particularly responsive or direct. Those e-mails come from the first-tier support personnel. Reply POLITELY to the e-mail and explain your situation again, if need be. You can also attach any supporting material to the reply, if applicable.
SAVE YOUR RESPONSES FROM KDP, just in case someone later gets annoyed at anything you've done.
4. Once a workable procedure has been laid out for one book, do the same for the others.
